Hello, I'm new here, but I go to another form a lot and really enjoy this one.

I'm building a new PC. (here's a thread with all the details)

Basically I have everything but the mobo (they ran out fo the one i wanted). I have 512mb of generic (Rk-byte) DDR ram that I'm going to put in there and below are some other parts.

Any advice on a mobo? (links are helpfull too

what are you going to be doing with it ?any asus board , i use an ecs k7s5a with an 18oo+,not the best board but its stable and no problems with it i also use an nvidea mx4 44o 64megs of ram w/tv out.it all comes down to what your needs are. buy good ram

I bought the A7N8X two months ago and I think it's the best AMD board you can get...

i reccommend any nForce 2 board. nForce 2 is the leading mobo chipset at the moment. I got the K7N2L from MSI but it doesnt have onboard graphics.

Also, are you sure you wanna go with generic ram? its honestly not a great idea. Try a brand like TwinMos, they're very cheap but work very well.

Also, if this is a new PC i'd look higher than XP2400.... prices have dropped a lot recently and you can now get a 2800 for what the 2400 was a few months ago, and 2800+ will be high-end for a while now.

i don't need a to lot of power, im jsut upgrading from a system i got in the mid 90s.

Nothign special is needed, i'd just like to play some of the newer games. I use it mostly for writing and the internet and stuff.

i'd go w/ gigabyte! i use one and it's pretty cool.

it's got everything i wanted.

on board audio (i'm not an audio freak)
4 pci, agp4x, supports ddr2700.

i personally use an Asus a7v8x. but in the future i might just upgrade to the epox 8rda its one of the best boards out there, its cheap, and friggen awesome for overclocking.

Gigabye 7VAXP.....ddr 3200 agp 8x 3 firewire ports and 4 usb 2.0 ports and 333mhz fsb....kick ass board and i can get it for $100

i have something close to that, a 7va-c.

not as good as the one u mentioned, but i got it for like 70 bucks from newegg, and one of their cool gifts too.

Randerolf, do yourself a favor and avoid buying from Tigerdirect like it was the plague. I've heard so many horror stories from people who bought from them: wrong items sent, wont warranty items, broken items sent, etc. Buying from tigerdirect is like playing craps in a crooked casino, all you'll get is aggravated and your wallet lightened.
