Internet Explorer Problems
Hello. I'm working on a computer for a friend. He had a bunch of spyware/viruses and I cleaned up the computer. It now runs great except. When I try to use internet explorer (he has to use internet explorer for his work) it won't go to any websites. Though his yahoo messenger signs in and I can ping websites.

Sometimes after some bad spyware gets on the computer, even after it is 'removed' it does not get fixed. You need to run a program called 'hijack this.' This is a long and tedious process, where it generats a log, there are a number of sites including this (which is ok, i am nto at work so do not have the forum link i normally post to here). Basically they will tell you what has to be removed from the log file, and that should repair it.
That is sadly the bad part of some of the spyware, it messes stuff up so bad, that it is almost just better to re-install. |
I tried the lsp fix and I tried hijack this, spybot, and windows defender. I'm gonna say screw it and just reinstall windows.

Sometimes spyware attaches itself to the Winsock.. when that is removed you tend to lose access to the internet.. you can find informatin on restoring the winsock from he norton, or microsoft website..
