Windows Won't Boot Up
When I left my computer last night everything was fine and when I came down this morning I saw this message flashing across my screen:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...e/Picture4.jpg {For Realtek RTL8139(x)/8310/810X PCI Fast Ethernet Controller v2. 13 (020326) Pxe-E61: Media Test Failure, check cable Pxe-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM.} I'm running XP home edition and it doesn't even begin to load - it takes an usually long time to load from the startup screen and directly to this error message. Now I can enter the BIOS but there aren't any settings that seem to be out of the ordinary. Intel Pentium M 1.60 GhZ 512MB DDR2 SDRAM (2x256MB) 60 gig Hard drive Internal 802.11b/g WLAN Any idea what's gone wrong? |
my first instinct says dead hard drive, can you enter bios and see if your hard drive is listed, if it is, do you have a second computer to place this hard drive in and see if you can get some of your data off of it?
or is it a laptop with that pentium M.... |
never mind saw it was a Pentium M. I would look at your manufacturers website on repair. They may have a tutorial on checking for bad parts
|
do you have a second computer?
|
Do you see it struggle with the hard drive before the PXE screen above? If not, someone may have messed with your BIOS boot order settings.

God, I love this board.
I'm leaning towards the dead hard drive theory and I'll be testing it out with another later today. Thanks. |
