what would cause this are some scripts XP only? i'm upgraded to the latest version of firefox but i can't see a virtual seating chart on a minor league baseball website. i get the error on a roll over

It depends on if their code is to blame. What is the address of the website that you are trying to see the virtual seating chart on? Others visting the site would at least be able to figure out if the site's code is to blame or your web browser's.

FYI: A common usage for javascript:void(0) is making a link that is null. More info on that at http://www.webdevelopersnotes.com/tu...ndblclick.php3

My wife got it to work on IE on her Windows XP machine. It works in neither IE or Firefox on my Windows ME machine

It's likely not that you're on Windows ME, but that you're on an old version of IE. Help > About Internet Explorer.

It works on IE 6.0, but not FF 5.0.

I'm looking at the JS (hopefully) find out why..

The rollover doesn't do anything in Bon Echo either (the nightly builds of what will become Firefox 2.0), just FYI.

It's actually THIS command that FF and older versions of IE don't like:

If you put a javascript code directly in the URL box of your browser, you can see what I mean -- returns nothing in FF, works in IE 6...

The page uses two things that cause it to fail on Firefox;

document.all['dek']

This throws about a bajillion errors in the firefox javascript console (Tools > Javascript Console), because document.all is a nonstandard way of referencing an object by it's ID.

Many web sites are still using this over 4 years after the standard DOM was released as a recommendation. Also many scripting help sites still teach this method of element access.

The next big problem is that they use innerHTML, another nonstandard way to insert content into a tag -- in this case, inserting a table into a DIV tag. I'd fix it and create you a page that works in both, but it's actually quite a bit of work to replace an innerHTML tag with the proper DOM commands.
