Office Install Help
im trying to reinstall office 2003 on a friends computer after i reformatted it and im having some trouble. i can get thru the cdkey and can choose what to install but during the installation it locks up on a cab file named w4561405.cab. i browse to the cd drive nothing. so i thought the cd might be screwed up so i made a copy nothing. well i thought ill rip the cd to my drive then install it over my network still locks up on that file. ive searched and search with no luck. anybody got any ideas? thanks

Have you tried installing without customizing? Try getting the basics installed, then update, then customize.

i just tried that and it done the same thing.

If the CD is scratched and its misreading it, its probably going to rip the wrong bit pattern into the hard drive as it would during an installation. Got bittorrent?
Google that filename and there's a ton of copies. ? |
I don't think that one's on the install 2003 cd's. Probably an update.
Did you ever get office installed on this system after the format? Are any of the drives less than virgin? Office's local installation source may have issues. Try LIStool to wipe it and start fresh: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en |
thanks fot the feedback... just for poops and giggles i tried to install it on my machine which it did with no problems. i tried that cyrnel but no luck either. i'm not understanding why this is not working. it was on there earlier i'm just reinstalling it.
im still stuck |
well i just fixed it. found a site that had the cab files i was needing. when the install stopped for the files i point to that folder on my computer and it worked like a champ.

Good deal. Some office install issues remind me of Norton.
