timeout from #tfp
when i try to login, i get this log after it tells me it's timed out:
--- CONNECTED TO irc.irvingnet.net --- IRCEvent[0x1217fe0] prefix: "(null)" command: "NOTICE" arguments: (AUTH, "*** Looking up your hostname...") IRCEvent[0x2c7d90] prefix: "(null)" command: "NOTICE" arguments: (AUTH, "*** Checking Ident") IRCEvent[0x14344d0] prefix: "(null)" command: "NOTICE" arguments: (AUTH, "*** Found your hostname") IRCEvent[0x1a59370] prefix: "(null)" command: "NOTICE" arguments: (AUTH, "*** No Ident response") IRCEvent[0x1a789b0] prefix: "artemis.irvingnet.net" command: "461" arguments: ("*", USER, "Not enough parameters") I'm using JediKnight 2 for OSX, and while i don't have this problem with the webclient, the text shows up real funny, and i was hopeing to use a regular application for it. Suggestions? |
what is your name for the server?
is it "*" ?? make it something longer and see whats happening. and what happens when u try the java client? |
i'm named chavos...
the java client doesn't advance the text right, so it writes one line on top of the other until its all a blur. i have to change windows and come back to it for it to appear right. and repeat anytime anyone says anything. slightly annoying... |
chavos, jedi knights not my vavorite, but I can probably help you out... do you have AIM? if so drop me a line on cheerios286, otherwise we'll just chat in here ;)

ok, here's the trick:
when you launch it, there's that info box. asks for NickName, user info, etc... you HAVE to fill in all the fields. so put SOMETHING in the about. then on the server dropdown, choose "create". input irc.irvingnet.net as the servername. no password. put irvingnet or something in the description. the port is fine. hit create, then put #tfp in the target and hit create. a SHITLOAD of stuff'll scroll by in the console and then the window should pop up w/ the channel. :) if you're stuck, feel free to message me. ...also, i might suggest a trip to Tilted Newbies and a read-through of the irc faq thread there. I have some instructions on using X-Chat aqua, which is a bit more friendly program. :) |
