Search Broken, Sometimes.

When I do a search it it works the first time, but then hangs up somewhere in the process for all subsequent searches.

After I click search a blank page loads, with the following address:

http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/search.php?do=process

Then...nothing.

Another forum I belong to uses vBulletin version 3.6.5 and gives me no trouble.
I use Firefox 3.5.8 on Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala

Suggestions?

Cynthetiq 03-18-2010 08:09 PM

3.6.5 is super old vb. I'm trying to see how I can reproduce this, but cannot at all.

Can you make sure you've cleaned out the cache of FF?

Hektore 03-19-2010 05:35 AM

I'm not sure what FF stands for, but I cleared my caches totally. It seems I wasn't as thorough in my initial investigation as I should have been.

It only does this when the search attempts to return 0 results. And, only with certain search strings. The one that is doing it for me repeatedly is "edit post time limit". I had another one that was doing it, but I can't remember what it was now - I will try to find others to see if there is a common thread.

//Edit: Seems to happen with any search that includes the phrase "time limit" anywhere in the search.

FF = Firefox.

Thanks. I can recreate the problem and will try to find a solution.

How am I the first person to have this problem?

Cynthetiq 03-19-2010 06:18 AM

no one searches for the word time.

what are you looking for re: post edit time limit?

Hektore 03-19-2010 06:20 AM

I've noticed some folks mention they would prefer it if there were a time limit on editing posts. I wanted to start a discussion about whether or not this was a feature we should have here and so I was searching to see if there were any threads about it already, before I made my own.

Cynthetiq 03-19-2010 06:31 AM

there isn't one that I know of, but has come up as a suggestion in the past.

Hektore 03-20-2010 04:42 PM

So, any luck on this, or at least an explanation?

Cynthetiq 03-20-2010 07:30 PM

I do have a fix and an explanation, I'm not sure I'll implement it just yet. It's a bit technical if you're interested I can PM you the information.
