Trivial Ideas for the Board
New April 16th, 2005. I see the birthdays of members at the bottom of the board and I thought why not a counter that says how long members have been here. The day that they joined, at the bottom it would say what year "anniversary" it is.
New April 14th, 2005: For threads that I am subscribed to in my folders, how about a snippet of the last post directly as I look in the folder. Is there all ready a setting to do that? OK, post some little idea you think should be added that you believe would only take 3 lines of code to be added to the TFP scripts. Anyone post, so I don't feel like a complete ass asking for some stupid stuff. New one April 4th, 2005: Not so trivial. I had this intersting idea about an adaptable poll where other voters can add options. For instance, I am going about researching award winning novels and I would like to know some of the novels that are people's favorites. TFPers can vote or add their own novel. However, it could be entirely up to me if I want certain questions up there and can rid votes that have been placed on removed options. The poll list would be interesting if it can be set to either arrange the options alphabetically, numerically, by date added, etc. Just Food for Thought. Anyone else think of some little aesthetic or trivial suggestions? Maybe Halx would consider these??? :D |
Augi, to check your profile, click on "Quick Links" on the right of the top menu. It should drop down a menu. under the heading "miscellaneous", second from the bottom, is a link label "My Profile". Clicking that will take you the profile page that other users will see, and is a lot easier than gallivanting through the forum looking for old posts. :-p This works for me in both firefox 1.01 and IE 6

I dont use the google toolbar because I use firefox and their pop up blocker is the best I've ever seen....FF has an option to "allow" popups from a site you enter in the controls...goes the google toolbar not have that option?

The only thing that I would like to see fixed is the seach function... I used to be able to use my username as a key word and it would bring up all posts where someone wrote my name *and* any post where I was quoted...
Since the last upgrade, it doesn't find the places where I was quoted. It is very useful to know when someone is quoting you as it sometimes requires a reply. Given the variety of threads I visit every day, it is hard to keep up with all of them. This search function used to help quite a bit. As it used to do it before I am sure it could do it again with a little tweak. Thanks |

Ah... I have to go all the way up there... and click quick links... it's so hard. Thanks, I never saw that there and even when I looked it never dawned on me, "There it is!" Things aren't as clear at 10.. 11.. 3 in the morning.
And my google toolbar randomly is letting some PMs through on "Popups OK." I think I will just reinstall it to make sure everything is fixed. |
I will need to change my email address stored in TFP soon but Hotmail, Yahoo, and GMail accounts are all banned. For now, I have my Sequoit email address through school but that will end and the account will not exist. Maybe allow members of higher status be able to change their addresses to ones that are the banned free access accounts.
