Yeah, any way we can get an update on the standings? If there have been any kind of scoring updates in the last 3 weeks or so, I missed 'em.

Heads up everybody...

Kansas City @ Miami has been moved to tomorrow, Friday.

Strange, I'm not sure how many people are aware of this, so maybe if we don't have enough entries by tomorrow, we could just not count that game.

looks like I'm the only one who picked Pittsburgh this week.. I have my doubts as Cincy is playin so well.. but I just have a feeling with Roth back they may pull out a close one and shock the Bengals at home.. :D

Damn, didnt realise a game got moved. One of the problems of being in the UK is I never know stuff like this. In the interests of fairness the Friday game should count as a win for everyone.

As for the scoring, I have done some of it, I just haven't had a chance to complete it. Clearly I'm rubbish, been working horrible hours also (14 hours yesterday, which is all well and good, except I only actually get paid for 7 1/2 of them...)

I will update the standings for everyone as soon as I can. I just need an hour to get down to it.

And because you are such a huge Bengals fan and not at all a Steelers fan, you deserve that kind of credibility ;)

Sion 10-27-2005 07:57 PM

btw, dj, how're the cRavens doing this year?

think they'll even cross midfield on Monday?

You better hope Roethlisberger is 100%, so he doesn't get hurt by Suggs and you have to bring in the only quarterback worse then Anthony Wright.

Sion 10-28-2005 04:34 PM

the only way Thuggs will hurt Roethlisberger is by cheap-shotting him.

of course, we know that the cRavens NEVER do things like that.

*cough*Joey Porter*cough*

Sion 10-29-2005 06:47 PM

and just what, pray tell, has Porter ever done in the way of cheap shots?

certainly nothing that can compare to McCalister (IIRC) jumping on Plaxico Burress' head with both feet. thuggery at it's finest.

by the way, can you pass this message on to Rayray: Jerome says to "tape it up" and come see him.

I'd say hitting a limping Todd Heap during an obvious stop-clock pass play counts.

There is a reason why both McAllister AND Hines Ward tend to be thrown out of those game.

Ray said to tell Jerome to get on the field first. If he starts from the locker room now he might make it by the fourth quarter.

you play until the whistle. if Heap was hurt, he should NOT have been on the field. end of story.

wtf are you talking about? McAllister plays dirty. Ward plays hard. There IS a difference.

Ravens @ Steelers, Dec 26, 2004

Pittsburgh Rush Yds Avg
J. Bettis 27 117 4.3

Steelers 20, Ravens 7

btw, is it any coincidence that Ray Lewis is expected to be out at least 4 weeks and that the cRavens play the Steelers twice during that same 4 week period?

is Ray afraid of the Steelers?

Sion 10-30-2005 03:37 PM

''Jerome saying Takeo Spikes is better than me? Let's go find out,'' the reigning Super Bowl MVP said. ''They have to come here in three, four days regardless of what's coming out of their mouths. Tell him to tape that groin up and come see me at PSINet.''

again, tell Ray to "tape up that "thigh/hamstring" and come see us."

Sion 10-30-2005 03:38 PM

and finally, how many phantom tackles will Rayray make this week from the bench.

6? 8? 15?

If Terrell Suggs did that to Heath Miller tomorrow night, you would be first in line holding the noose.

That is a dirty play.

Yeah, one's a Raven and one's a Steeler. I do think Hines Ward is a great player and someone I would want, but there is a reason why you hear his name mentioned on TV as one of the dirtier players in the league.

Ray Lewis vs. Jerome Bettis

7 Tackles - 28 yards - 4.0 per carry.

In other words, brought down every time he got past the line, which is his job.

Yeah, that's it

If that is what makes you feel better about playing the Ravens, you go right on ahead and believe it.

If that's how many times a Steelers player looks in that direction and "trips", that sounds about right.

bullshit and bullshit. an injured player should not lineup up for a snap, regardless of the play called. it really is that simple. you line up, you better be ready to get hit. this is football, not tiddlywinks.

the only I time I ever hear Hines called a dirty player is when they interview the Ravens. gee, I wonder why.

averages don't tell the whole story. like the play where Bettis dragged Rayray a full 5 yards after initial contact. besides, a truly great MLB makes plays at and even occasionally behind the LOS. not 4 yards downfield. Rayray has been exposed as incredibly average ever since those two behemoths in front of him moved on.

but hey, if you're comfortable with an opposing player averaging over 4 yards per carry against your vaunted defense, more power to ya, I guess.

That average is only the plays where Jerome Bettis was tackled by Ray Lewis. Considering Lewis is generally five yards behind the line at the start of the play, I wouldn't say that holds much for Jerome.

But I guess if we're using one play to judge them, we should do that for everyone. Antonio Freeman made the greatest catch I've ever seen on Monday Night Football, so he must be one of the best receivers of all time. Or, Joey Porter made the dirtiest play I've ever seen on Tood Heap, so he must be one of the dirtiest players of all time.

And how many Super Bowls have the Steelers won recently? As in, since the time they were playing the Baltimore COLTS?

djtestudo 10-31-2005 09:19 PM

How 'bout them Steelers? They came a dumbass quarterback away from losing to the Ravens.

Definately an impressive team  ;)

Yep, Barely sqeaked one out against the lowly Ravens minus some key parts. What will happen when they play a good team?

saut 11-01-2005 07:51 AM

Yeah, a lot closer than it should have been. Our defense was not on top of things at all, sadly. Definitly an entertaining game, though, as Steelers-Ravens games usually are, even if we should have crushed you ;).

And yes, Wright is a dumbass. What kind of clutch play was that? Lob it to some guy 3 yards downfield on 4th down with 20 seconds left?

crewsor 11-01-2005 12:40 PM

Not to mention taking a sack the play before instead of throwing the ball away and stopping the clock, or the multitude of open receivers he either didn't see or overthrew.

Sion 11-01-2005 12:53 PM

It matters not how you get the win, only that you do.

how's that cellar feel these days? is it cold down there? probably smells bad too, what with the Browns being there with you and all.

Yeah right, I guarantee you were shitting your pants while the Ravens had the ball for that final failed drive. What happened to " trust me its gonna get ugly"? It almost got real ugly for your boys.

actually no. I was pretty sure Wright was gonna choke with the game on the line.

What you said was its gonna get ugly for the Ravens. Now you say you knew Pissburg was gonna stink up the place also. Thats great. What can I say, it's not the Ravens year this year. The only consolation is it's never Pissburgs year.

since 1996 (the cRavens 1st year of existence) and counting the games played thus far this year:

winning seasons:
Steelers: 7
cRavens: 3

the Steelers: 92 wins, 58 losses, 1 tie
averages: wins 9.2, losses 5.8

the cRavens: 72 wins, 76 losses, 1 tie
averages: wins 7.2, losses 7.6

head to head: Steelers 13 wins, cRavens 6 wins

gee, you guys haven't even been a .500 team over the whole of your measly 10 year existance. you can thank the Steelers for that.

meanwhile, despite the 40 years of futility that was the Steelers prior to the 70s, they are STILL above .500: 513-500-21

now, what was THAT you were saying?

djtestudo 11-03-2005 08:56 PM

How many Super Bowls have they won since Baltimore still had the Colts?

crewsor 11-04-2005 04:22 AM

I was saying all those numbers and averages prove is what big choke artists they are.
