Rick out as Pistons coach...

Any thoughts on this.

He led them to back to back 50 win seasons and took them to conference final.

Reports are that Larry Brown is coming to town.

Could it really be that the Lions and Pistons both have two of the better coaches in their respective profession?

This is unheard of around here. Scotty was great and so was Sparky but the Lions and Pistons both making good management decisions.

The world is coming to an end.

Perhaps Rick Carlisle could head up Highway 401, and become the coach of the Raptors.

I think its bull shit, i mean he didn't even have time to see things end and 2 seasons is not enought time to see if a coach can lead a team to the title, Plus he had no one who could score and still had 50 wins and maybe it to the eastern finals

Larry Brown, it appears, is a lock to come to town.

I would have like to have seen Carlisle given another season... after all, the best Pistons team is yet to come, being that they have the number two pick in the draft. Seems he should have had the chance to lead the best team the Pistons could muster, and if he couldn't do it then, well, then sack him.

This reeks of Pistons management taking advantage of the situation in coaching now. Probably the best move, don't get me wrong. But not fair to Carlisle.

Might be TEN coaching cnages by the time we are done... interesting offseason.

Carlisle definitely got delt a Joker, however, I assume their are truths to the reports that their were significant communication problems. I first heard there was problems with upper management, and the choice was probably the owner's desicion. In contrast, I heard on Sport's Reporters this morning that there was problems between the coach and players (Hamilton, Billups, Wallace).

Regardless, Larry Brown is a good coach, he is a proven winner, but not a champion. My assesment of Carlisle's first two years with the Pistions is that he is a proven winner, but not a champion. I would have liked to see Brown go to Houston and Van Gundy too Cleavland. Now that Silas will probably get the Cavs coaching job, Van Gundy is the front runner in Houston.

Carlisle's shortcomings (and they are few) would have been overlooked had Larry Brown not been ready and willing to move on.

Carlisle isn't necessarily the most respect coach in the NBA, but he has to be one of the classiest. I can't believe he had the guts to show up at the press conference announcing his firing. Amazing.

With the #2 pick in the draft, the Pistons are looking to win right now. With Brown probably already looking ahead to his next stop, they need to win immediately.

I agree that Carlisle definelty not deserve to be canned but Brown was an excellent pickup for the Pistons. On a related note, it was reported that after Carlisle was fired the Blazers granted Philly permission to speak to Cheeks about replacing Brown. (Carlisle was a asst coach for Portland before he was promoted to Detroit) Man, we sure do have some clowns running the Blazers front office.
