Bernard Hopkins - Howard Eastman

Why is no one talking about this fight? Probably two of the the top 5 lbs for lbs fighters right now getting in the ring, certainly the two best fighters in their division... and it is getting no hype at all.

Is anyone watching this fight at all? My call is - Hopkins has been a great champ, but this night is the night he gets old, and Eastman wins with a mid to late JO. Eastman could have easily taken a title a long time ago, but his personality has lead him to make wrong choices, and he hasnt gone after the weak champions... Hopkins could have taken a easier fight which would have more hype... but I respect him for putting it on the line against Eastman... Hopkins is a fighter and he wants to take on the best, not who the US public see's as the best... whatever happens this is gonna be a hell of a fight, between two of the best boxers out there today.

SF, As a bookie, I have to say Eastman is completely at a disadvantage. The Battersea Bomber is about to get his ass handed to him by Hopkins tonight. I actually think the line -600 is low for this fight.

Hopkins in the 8th, KO.

Eastman has lost once as a pro, in a controversial decision to Joppy... this isnt some schmuck turning up to make up the numbers.... Hopkins is going to get old all at once tonight, thats my prediction, anyway. He hasnt faced a man like Eastman for a few years now.

disappointing fight from Eastman - he was never hurt, but he just didnt bring enough offense.. he was upset with his own performance and he was right to be I think, he was on the back foot far too much.

SF, when I looked at the matchup to set up the line, I thought to myself, wow 40-1 but when looking at the guys he's faced it seemed Howard really hasnt fought anyone of Hopkins caliber. The only thing that could even up the match was the fact taht Hopkins is already 40 BUT Eastman is no kid at 34 either. I didnt watch the fight but from what Ive read it seemed like Bernard dominated, though Howard complains BH ran all night...

I was bored by most of the fight. Not much action and neither of them was ever really in danger of going down.

meh... Hopkins did what he needed to win the fight. He didnt want a war with Eastman and Eastman didnt force him into one, Eastman is a counter puncher, and he just was out thought and out boxed. He was just upset with himself I think, because he knew he was just outclassed.

But Hopkins will get old one night, just like Roy Jones did... but it wasnt that night.
