Good GOD the Bengals Browns game was great
best part was at the end the Browns have the ball 2 minutes left and on 2nd and few, the snap flies 20 ft over Holcombe's head.... then he fumbles trying to pick it up and takes a nasty loss.
Then throws the game winning interception......            Na na na na hey hey hey goodbye Butchie haven't been this happy about a coach losing his job since Cooper got his ass canned at OSU. |
I have to say...sitting through that game was pretty entertaining. It's always a good day when the Bungs beat the Clowns.
At times though this much balyhood improved defense of Cincy just looked silly. It was like the Bungs were playing with 10 on defense and the Clowns were playing with 12 on offense. How many passes over the midddle for 30+ can you give up in one game? Crazy game...crazy score...glad the Bungs came out on top. Funny quote from Cincy Enquirer: Give me one good reason Holcomb can go 21-for-25 in the second half, look like JoeDan Montino, then throw a game-losing interception you could see coming from Covington. FINALLY...The Bengals snapped a six-game losing streak to AFC North teams and won for the first time in five games against division teams this season. The Bengals play Sunday at Baltimore now 7-4 after losing at New England. Keep it all in perspective Bung's fans -- the Bungs have lost 42 games in a row on the road to teams with winning records, dating to December 1990. |
The only complaint I have from yesterday's game is the announcers were absolutely horrid. They didn't seem to know anything about either team nor care.

A very entertaining game. In a way, it reminded me of the Colts and Chiefs last year.

Any defense played at all?

not until the end of the game when deltha picked off holcomb and ran it back for a TD eliminating any chance of the Browns coming back to win the game... dangit.
incidentally, this game appears to have been the nail in butch davis' coffin. he apparently resigned: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1934933 |
Well at least Butch resigned/was fired. That makes it easier on us Browns Fans. But that was a GREAT game to watch. My favorite part was when the Browns scored, then intercepted a pass and ran it back to the 1 yard line. My wife was putting up outside Christmas decorations and gone out to put something on the porch after Cleveland scored. So she missed the INT. When she came back in she asked what happened and i said Cleveland scored. She said she saw it. I said, nope, they scored again. She was confused until she saw the replay. But you know, she knows her football and basketball extremely well, and I am a lucky man. (Sorry about the sidetrack, but I had to say it). Anyway, glad to see butch gone, and maybe the Browns can lift themselves up from the curse that is hanging over them.

Here's a quote from grendals link:
'Collins indicated the Browns would honor the three-plus years remaining on Davis' contract, worth about $12 million.' Jesus, what a deal. I know if I resigned my job today, I wouldn't even be able to collect unemployment. I guess it's brilliant business decisions like this that have the Browns in the situation they are in. |
yeah, although i've read other accounts since then, some of which say there was a buy-out negotiated between the Browns and Davis. still, even that's gonna be somewhere in the neighborhood of 5 or 6 million bucks. i think i could live a little while on that...
