Utah Jazz
I was thinking about how good the Utah Jazz looked the other day and NBA Fast Break had a Jazz love fest that reminded me.
Their lineup is real impressive. I like the combination of Okur, Boozer, and AK at the forward spots, all three players are constantly improving. I don't think Okur is a pure center, they have a couple on the bench though. Harpring and Giricek are good perimeter shooters. Harping rebounds well too. Arroyo is underated, he shoots a high percentage for a guard, passes well, and makes good decisions. I also think he has a lot more potential. They are obviously well coached, they play extremely hard. I think they are top 4 team in the West if they stay healthy. What are your thoughts about the Jazz or any other teams so far? |
bah Jazz bite... SUNS ALL THE WAY BABY! hehe sorry had to :D.... btw 3-0 suns, first in their dev.

Agreed.
I find Utah's season a lot more interesting than the Kobe Show. I could see the Jazz finishing in the top four in the West, whereas the Kobes will probably finish 6 or 7. |
The Jazz have always been my other team aside from Boston. I thought they would do horribly last season after losing all the talent they did. But Jerry Sloan is one hell of a coach and despite losing his wife in the offseason he's still out there and the Jazz are playing even better. I think this is his year to win Coach of the Year.

I thought they overpaid dreadfully for Boozer ... but I may be proven wrong.
|
ok Jazz kicked ass a long ass time ago. the other day the suns got there first 4-0 season in 20 years. thats something to be impressed by.
|
The suns have their own thread
The Jazz look impressive. |
hmm one thing, maybe im not looking at it right. but Okur does not seem to impressive so far.
|
The Jazz look incredible, really.
Granted, it's only 5 games in, but they are showing signs of a pretty promising team. The offense clicks well, and on defense, they are so fast to the ball, and whenever anyone gets in the lane, there is 5 Jazz there to greet him. I think they have a complete team, and I would venture to say if they don't derail, they are a true contender. |
I think they'll do well in the regular season but not go that far in the playoffs. They don't have any one dominant player htat could take over a series, or even a game for that matter. They also lack a dominant inside prescense - someone who can consistantly play very physically in the paint. I can't see them beating the Wolves or Spurs, because their lack of physical big men would seem, to me anyways, to prevent them from having a chance at successfully stopping KG or TD. However, with the Nuggets playing as pitifully as they are, I agree that they could be a top 4 team.
|
I've always underrated the Jazz and this year will probably be no different. Looking at their lineup, there is no way you say this team is a top 4 team in the west. Other than AK and Boozer, none of these guys would start on another contending team. If the Jazz somehow do it, Jerry Sloan has to be considered the best coach in the NBA.
|
Jazz always impress me. Sloan is probably the best coach in the league IMO.
They play like a well oiled machine. |
Okur is an overpaid bum that is now on the bench. Paying him 50 mil for that?
Boozer is a lying poser, karl malone wanna-be (will probably be), and I hope that, because he's going to have the same luck. Malone never got a ring because of Jordan. Boozer will never because of LBJ. Once they're championship-ready (which both are not quite yet) then there will be a decade long feud. It's gonna be great. I'll be able to afford good tickets. Arroyo is good. Kirilenko is one of those guys that you love to watch because he plays unselfish basketball and outstanding defense. 8 blocks in a game for a small forward? Nasty. |
the jazz play great team ball, and the addition of boozer is huge...if they overpaid him, they only overpaid a small amount. the jazz lacked a true rebounder/banger....he plays good defense and gets garbage baskets. his presences allows kirilenko more presence much further from the post as well.
they are a considerably deep team as well.....i see them in the playoffs for sure, but not top 4 (those spots belong to the spurs, twolves, mavs, and (dare i say it) kings) |
Dude, the jazz are gonna be great. There is a reason Karalanko (sp?) was maxed. he does it all. And for all the noise Boozer got for signing with them, that is a nice pickup, if not a tad expensive. But they are young and run and gun, and gonna be real tough.
|
A bit expensive? The way he's playing now your trying to argue that he didn't deserve what he got?
That team isn't 5-1 without Boozer, and averaging over 100pts a game. Oh, don't forgot to mention they are 3rd in the leauge in points against. Boozer thus far, while only 6 games in has been worth every single penny they spent. Physcial big men? What do you need those for? The entire west doesn't have one. Duncan? KG? Yao? McGrady? None of them are physcial players, all of them will settle for the 15 foot jump shots, although, McGrady doesn't have too. Boozer and AK are good in the middle, the team swarms every ball that hits the paint, they have outstanding ball movement, and shot selection - and right now, you can easily call them a top 4 team. The Kings? Are you kidding me? They can't get out of their own way. Provided they can keep the frantic pace they play at for the rest of the season, they can easily get that squad deep into the playoffs. When was the last time Detroit was manhandled like they were by the Jazz? It was never a contest. Utah is a complete TEAM. Indiviual names make no difference. Yes, it's only 6 games in, and they may fall on their faces, but.. I'll take my chances. |
well, dont forget detroit was without big ben and billups too, i think.
nonetheless, the jazz are gonna do some damage this year. |
They are a European team, and like the recent trends have been showing in international play, these all athletic teams are having a problem keeping up.
Like to see them play my Timberpups, it will be easy to gauge them after that. |
What's going on with the Jazz? First they lose to previously winless New Orleans and now they lose to previously winless Chicago. I've seen teams have letdowns against terrible teams, but usually not twice in a row. Has this team come back down to reality?
|
yes
what the hell is going on the jazz looked very impressive from the start then all of a sudden lose to the 2 bottom placed teams (like dead bottom) both within a matter of 3 days what the hell? |
The Jazz have a good team. Kirilenko is a great player
Carlitos Arroyo is the man, representing Puerto Rico! :D He will get better as the season goes, he will be more confident, and will make the rest of the team look good. |
I think that Utah will be similiar to the Grizzles last year. Both teams are well-coached and play hard, but both had some critical flaws. As the season goes on, I'm not sure if Boozer will be able to maintain his high level of play against the bigger, more talented forwards. However, they do have a genuine superstar. Andrew K. has the ability to dominate the game on both areas of the floor, particularly defensively. A defensively sound team, such as the Jazz, seem to preform even better in the playoffs.
|
the jazz used to be my favorite team, they were the last old-school type holdouts from the mid-eighties style of play. stockton, malone, hornaceck... regular jumpshots, good fundamentals and loved the pick-and-roll.
i'd trade them all for john stockton's armpit hair. |
Ak47 is out 7-10 days apperently. This will be a place to show that they are a legit team.
|
the jazz sucks...seriously who loses to chicago??? Carlos Boozer is the worst player ever have fun with him, drew gooden is much more athletic and shows much much more potential than Loozer
