NFL Draft Day 1 & 2
So,
How did everyone's Team do? As a Dolphin fan (and Canes fan) I am elated. 6 canes drafted in the first 21 picks, thats awsome, and the Dolphins FINALLY draft a Cane player... the only other thing that was shocking was Steven Jackson going so low, and Ben Troupe being the 3 TE drafted (that was a shocker) |
Ravens did alright considering their situation. An ideal DT for our system in round 2, and a solid WR in round 3.
|
Steelers did great :) Big Ben, awesome pickup at 11, especially considering he was projected to go so much sooner. Thanks Chargers, Giants for scrambling for the other two and leaving the best one for us :)
Ricardo Colclough is another one I am impressed with at CB Hopefully he or Ike Taylor can finally push Chad Scott to safety or the bench. and Max Starks, and all OL dropped pretty low and we got a very good lineman for the position we traded in. After the first day I would give Steelers a B+ The rest of our division: The Browns get a D for that retarded trade Bengals and Ravens did lackluster C's We definetley came out as one of the best in the draft league wide so far I think. |
Anyone know why Randy Starks fell to the 3rd round? I thought I might hear his name in the 1st round?
|
I was floored. I had heard his name as high as 14 or so. I guess because of how raw a talent he is supposed to be.
I'm sure he's wishing he'd listened to Fridge and stayed at Maryland another year. Same with P.K. Sam and FSU. |
Randy had bad workouts.

I liked what the Bears did. Their biggest weakness going into the draft (after addressing the offensive line through free agency) was the defensive line, mainly the DTs. They grabbed two guys in Harris and Johnson who seem to be a good fit in the style of defense the Bears will use. They also picked a WR (Berrian) who was expected to be higher pick had he not gotten injured.

Proud to see Robert Gallery go number two. What an awesome man.

Lions and Tennessee stole the show today.
Lions got Roy Williams, WR, K. Jones RB, T. Lehman and Smith, CB. The first three were all ranked top 3 at their position in the draft and the Lions absolutely raped the Browns for the 2nd rounder that got them K. Jones. Titans traded out of the 1st but landed 3 guys who had round 1 potential. Starks actually went to them in the 3rd. I also think that the Chargers raped the Giants for Manning. Getting the NYG 1st round next year lets them go after M. Williams in the supplemental draft if he is cleared for it and still have a decent 1st round pick. Art |
Browns get more less than a D they got faked out of their shoes, Ben is going to make a huge difference for the Steelers and we can finally get rid of mediocre Tommy, the corner back i question a lot, cause i doubt the skills of d3 quaterbacks and recievers

As a Cowboys fan, I'm very uncomfortable.
There's no other word to describe how I felt about the first day. They had a chance at Steven Jackson, and they trade the pick away? God damn. I want to think that Bill Parcells knows what he is doing, but for a team that has dire needs at RB to pass on Jackson is troubling. The offensive lineman seem alright, but the RB decision still bothers me. I like what I saw of Julius Jones, and he catches the ball well. I can understand why the analysts think the Cowboys screwed up, but no one will know anything until the season starts. A third of the picks will be studs, and the others will suck balls. All I can hope for right now is some LUCK, and that the Bills don't win any games so we'll have a high pick next year. On the rest of the draft: I really liked the JP Losman pick, and I think the fucking Patriots got richer wih Ben Watson. |
I think the Jets did ok and filled positions where they needed people, but I really hope they can pick up a big target man WR in the second half of the draft
|
I love 'ol Marvin Lewis. Up to his old tricks again. After drafting a decent RB prospect in Perry in RD1, makes his next 4 picks. . . ALL DEFENSIVE BACKS!!!!!!! Sound familiar? This guy has it going on upstairs that is for sure. People are going to be surprised when the Bengals start making the playoffs year after year in an era of salery cap football. Lewis is building a winner for many years to come.
Oh yeah - and I agree that Detroit raped the Browns and Tenn had a great day as well. Still can't get over Starks. . . Never question the Fridge. |
Day 2 brings a lot of talent still left, two names in particular that i noticed which hopefully the Dolphins can land is PK Sam and Ernest Wilford, they are both supposed to be pretty decent WR, and i know that the fins wanted to also draft another WR, so hopefully PK can be "boldin-esque" his first year... we shall see

trading down was also a concession by Jones & Parcells that the 'Boys are still a year or two away. btw: as for why Jackson slipped so far in the draft... there were a few teams, including the Cowboys, that apparently had concerns about a knee injury that he suffered near the end of last season. |

Will Poole and Tony(?) Pape could both be steals considering where they were taken though. I've read where Poole has some attitude problems that contributed to him dropping to the third round, but he has first round talent. And Pape is another O-Lineman from Big Ten country (Michigan) that was projected to go the first day. I'm not disappointed. Hopefully a rejuvenated Boston, along side Chambers, McMicheal and Thompson is enough. I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of deal for another receiver before camps open though. I don't think they have much faith in Thompson because of his work ethic. I think we'd be better off if they brought in some legit competition. |
I think Denver did well. Linebacker is one of the few positions that they have had success with in the early rounds.
