Believe it or not I used to be able to do that.... well what I mean is I used to be able to dunk... when I say dunk, I don't mean dunk, more like I could jump and grab the hoop... when I say grab the hoop, I mean I could touch the hoop... with my fingertips... but not with a ball in my hand.

Great video, no idea who it is though.

I used to be able to do that too...when I say dunk I mean I could jump up in the air in the general direction of the hoop and release the ball. That guy was awesome. That one shot he took off from the foul line.

used to be able to dunk a volleyball/small basketball - never could palm a regulation ball and the vertical on a average day was about an inch or two short from throwing those down.
I also could grab a 10 foot rim solidly standing flat-flooted underneath but those days have been gone for at least a few years now. There have been more 'glad to walk without a limp from rebelling knees' days in the last 2-3 years.

Damn that was the best dunk footage I've seen since the Vince Carter one, where he dunked over that seven footer in the Olympics.

Damnn, that was a pretty good show he put on. Kudos for being a white canadian (aside from steve nash), who is actually good at basketball. I'm just kidding, theres tons of basketball talent up here in Canada.

He can jump. So what!! I hate that people think he's a great baller just because he can jump outa the gym. He didn't do anything that I haven't seen a bunch of other white dudes do. On every D1 college hoops squad there is at least one white dude who is that athletic. White guys can jump better than people think. Until I sprained my ankle really bad a few times and tore every ligament I could do some crazy shit, but not anymore.

He's actually 6'6. But anyways, to sixate. This guy is one year out of highschool, he's eighteen years old. You have no right in the world not to give this guy alot of respect for his athleticism. He is throwing down the craziest dunks I have seen since vince in the 2000 allstar game. If you can find one white guy who can windmill over a person, or take a TWO FOOT take off from the freethrow line then take a video of it, show me and you will have proven me wrong.

If those are the craziest dunks you've seen other than Vice then you know nothing about hoops, and you aren't around or know an eighth of the basketball players I do. I personally know at least 15 dudes who can dunk like that(a couple of them are white), and most of the can't hit a 10 foot jumper or hit a free throw, and forget about being able to make a solid post entry pass. I never said he wasn't a great athlete. It's obvious that he is, but a great athlete doesn't mean you're automatically a great basketball player with some great fundamentals, and that's all I said. If you look at the vid he wasn't behind the free throw line. Sure one foot was on it, but the other was almost three feet inside of it. There's plenty of dudes who can do that. Just because you never saw it doesn't mean it has never happened.

If he wasn't a good basketball player I assure you he would not have gotten a scholarship to a division one school. Getting a scholarship to division 1 is hard, but i assure you it is alot harder getting noticed in Canada. He also wouldn't have gotten 39 points in an canada highschool allstar game. http://www.hooplife.ca/videoclips.asp

Dude... It's Eastern Michigan, not Duke. I had scholarship offers from 4 mid major schools when I was a senior. It's not that hard, and he's a better athlete than me. So I stand by my opinion that he isn't' that good of a player. Nobody ever plays defense in all star games so who cares how many points he scored.

And after watching that vid, I'll bet he doesn't even play at Eastern Michigan for at least three years. As well as he explodes off his feet in the dunk contest he hardly jumps when he shoots the ball, and he moved his feet like shit a few times on D. I get up higher on my jump shot than this dude. He was red-shirted as a freshman because he wasn't good enough to play, and I bet he rides the bench for a couple more. A dude with that athletic ability who can't even get any playing time as a freshmen gets zero respect from me. Dunking means shit.

Up front, I'll confess to not being a huge basketball fan at all, but I've got to agree with sixate on most of his points. There's a helluva lot more to the game than dunking. Time will tell.

Give the kid a break, sixate! He went to Eastern Washington, and was recruited to play behind a 2-time All Big Sky Conference starting forward (who led the team to an NCAA berth and had them tied with OK State at the half of their very first big dance game ever). The team had four experienced forwards ahead of him. The coach probably made a good call when he redshirted him, giving him four potentially productive years, after Alvin snow graduates.

Bekkering can sky... and that video of the all star game shows him raining jump shots from all ranges. A good defensive teacher could make a real good ball player out of him.

Dunking is fun, I can 360 and dunk it off the backboard not to mention dunk off vert. i am a black man who is 6'2" but I know I will never have enough skill to go to the pros. I've dunked in highschool games but I was never offered much I got three letters (two division II schools and one pathetic division I school). I'm at school to get my edyomammacation and nothing else, if the coach notices me, thats all good. I play basketball for fun, not to try and make a life out of it.

Conservative dunking is the highest percentage shot in the game. If you can get to the hoop, and you can jump high enough, why try to lay it in when you make a strong two-handed dunk?

Sixate, I couldn't agree with you more that dunking from the free-throw line has no place in practical basketball games, it just doesn't happen. The same applies for dunking over three guys hunched over. However, conservative dunking plays a very important role in play down by the bottom of the key.

It's like comparing a billiards player to someone who just does trick-shots. They are derived from the same activity (I refuse to call it a sport :P), but one is purely for entertainment.

the vert is amazing, the jumping over the guy is wild, kinda like vince carter in the olympic's if i remember correctly. still best dunker vs. size has to be mr spud webb, was he not like 5.6 or summat? i could grab the rim in high school, before i discovered beer.

my favourite in-game dunks that I can recall off the top of my head would be:
0) Shawn Kemp jumping straight up from c. 12-15 feet out facing away from the basket and jamming it home it on a helicopter dunk
and
1) Robert Horry jumping from c. 12 feet out in the key over three guys, catching the ball bouncing off the front of the rim at its high point and slamming it back over those same three guys.
2) edit: just remembered in one of the all star games where Shaq barely threw it down while four players were hanging on him the entire time. Drexler was called for that foul.
