NFL Coach of the Year

Who gets your vote?

(BTW, I'M the one who voted for Billick; I know he won't get any other votes ;))

ironchef82 12-02-2003 05:38 PM

This is way too close to call right now. I don't think I'll be able to make up my mind until we see what happens with the playoffs/Super Bowl.

There is no way that Marvin Lewis should not win it. He has the Cincinnatti Bengals....The BENGALS!...in a battle for first in their division. I'm a cowboys fan and I have to give props to Marvin Lewis.

Spartak 12-02-2003 06:08 PM

Marvin Lewis.

As I see it, the Cowboys had talent, they just couldn't get it all clicking together.

Bengals had pretty much no talent (aside from Dillon and Chad Johnson) and Marvin Lewis got them all working as a team, even without Dillon.

He also made Jon Kitna a possible Pro-Bowler, with the way he has been playing lately.

BigGov 12-02-2003 08:41 PM

Andy Reid turned the Eagles around while losing a defensive line, his secondary for half the season, without a few linebackers, without a decent wide receiver, without his star running back, and an underperforming QB at the beginning of the year.

"The Eagles are horrible! I can't believe we thought they'd be a great team in the NFC!"

After the Eagles are 9-3

"See! I picked the Eagles to go all the way this year!"

ReggErving 12-02-2003 08:59 PM

I'm not a fan but I'm going with Parcells. Dallas was terrible before he came and now the have a shred of respect. Although I must say that the defense on Dallas is way overated, did you see how the Dolphins killed them?

Fantasma 12-02-2003 09:50 PM

Bill Belichick (Patriots) no doubt.

Pats are going to be in playoffs despite all injuries

SocialAbortion 12-02-2003 11:45 PM

Marvin Lewis. No other coach comes close to exceeding the expectations that he has.

Most people would have been happy if they had won 6 or 7 games all year.

lions20 12-03-2003 05:40 AM

With all the injuries he had to go through I think Belichick is the coach of the year.

obviously, you are free to make you decision any way and time that you chose. However, when the "official" NFL Coach of the Year is chosen, it is based on regular season performance only. It is typically announced about the second week of the playoffs.

I went with Marvin Lewis, narrowly edging out Parcell's. Belichick was third, but not by much.

Nah, I went with Billick also. Everyone is jumping on the Marvin Lewis bandwagon but he should be winning. They've had what, about a hundred first round picks over the last 5 years.:D

Seriously, I agree Lewis should get it, but being a big homer I have to vote Billick.

yet again he is taking a patchwork team and its looking like they may get a frist round by

absorbentishe 12-03-2003 11:57 AM

Lewis with the Tuna finishing second. How can you turn around a losing team (been loosing for over a decade) and not get the votes?

RHix613 12-03-2003 12:04 PM

Parcells is one of the best, and he has proven it this year.

omega2K4 12-03-2003 12:49 PM

No Jeff Fisher!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!??!?

archer2371 12-03-2003 12:59 PM

Parcells, what can I say? America's team will finish above .500, they're on their way to being a fixed team.

Jesus Malverde 12-03-2003 02:24 PM

I think Parcells should win it, but Marvin Lewis is probably in a tie. The Bengals are just as talented as the Cowboys, and they might even have a better offense. The Bengals had been playing alright last year, but the Cowboys were just blowing ass all year. Parcells made the bigger turnaround and coaching impact, Lewis just made his team gel together well. It's close.

spectre 12-03-2003 03:29 PM

Parcells, Bellicheck, and Reid have all done an incredible job. Parcells took a losing team and made the team a contender. Bellicheck and Reid found ways to win even though they had enough injuries to give them a reason to lose. My pick, however, goes to Lewis. He took a beaten and demoralized franchise and made them into a viable threat. Seriously, when was the last time you though, "whew, glad we don't have to play the Bengals!"

ghobber 12-03-2003 05:33 PM

I say Lewis. making these guys believe has got to be tough. Winning with Kitna is even tougher. PaRCELLS HAS done quite a bit w/o a lot of talent as well. Fox has done a good job but I think they are going in the tank down the stretch and Delhomme is just adequate

edmos1 12-04-2003 09:02 AM

I agree Parcells/Lewis, the Bengals have historically (10+years) been the worst team in football, and they have had their share of 1st round draft picks, so you do have the situation that there is no where to go but up, Parcells took a team that was getting worse and turned it around.
No disrespect to the other coaches on the list especially Belicheck and Billick, they have been extremily good, but Pats , and Ravens were superbowl team a couple of years.

yankeefatboy 12-06-2003 12:08 AM

Hell, Lewis should win if the Bengals had won only 5 games all season. He has done an unbelievable job. Just the fact that he shut up Dillon might warrant the award.

grayman 12-08-2003 08:45 AM

The loss yesterday kind of kills it for Lewis in my mind. It is possible that the Bengals will fade now and finish with only 7 wins, still impressive, but not comparable to what Belichick has done with the Pats. As much as I hate them, I see them as Super Bowl favorites right now. Screw the overrated, whiny Chiefs.

BigBlueWrecking 12-10-2003 09:25 AM

No Jim Fassel????? Oh wait, I just reread the title and it was coach of the year and not worst coach of the year...if that is the case Parcells gets my vote with Fox second. Neither of those teams has a QB as good as Kitna (that is scary)
