which city do you think should have a sports team? in which sport and at what level?

Other notes: when i mean level i mean pro, college, etc.
also, You cant always just make new franchises (except for college) so you could also add which team would move. andf what division or conference would the team be in?

my example:

Las Vegas: any team in any sport especially Baseball maybe the Expos could move here and their spot in the NL east would be taken by the Pirates, whose spot in the NL central would be taken by the Rockies leaving a spot wide open for the Veags Expos in the NL west. Change the name though.

Nevada will have a hard time getting a sports team due to their legalized gambling problem.

I think cities like Portland and Northern Virginia will have the better chances at getting the Expos.

I would really like to see Puerto Rico get the Expos. They deserve it. Just build a 35k + stadium and make the tickets cheaper than the states and you will sell out every game for as long as their our latin americans in the game.

I'd hate to see LA get a football team - not cause they don't deserve one - but cause the alignment in the NFL is so perfect right now.

Artermis 04-28-2003 07:09 PM

Only way LA gets one is if San Deigo or Oakland moves there and then it wont matter.

It would be nice to see either Winnipeg or Quebec (or both) get back their NHL teams. They could move one of the teams from the States that Americans only care about when they're winning.

I would love to see pro sports come to Oklahoma City. Oklahoma City is not as large as other major metropolitan areas but it is highly supportive of college sports. Kansas City has profesional sports but they always seem to suck - it's too far from here to Denver or Dallas. I vote for Oklahoma City!

good luck with that dragon

Dr.Who 04-29-2003 07:15 PM

Portland, in any sports.

And yes, L.A. should get a new NFL team sooner or later.

Has for Quebec and Winnipeg back in the NHL, I can only dream :) (but think it would happen someday!)

goddfather40 04-29-2003 07:25 PM

Portland deserves another major sports franchise. The fans are awesome and knowledgeable.

dragon2fire 04-29-2003 08:22 PM

i predict in about 20 years we might have a nba team
:D

Slippery_Pete 05-01-2003 04:22 PM

The Buffalo Bills should move to Toronto and we can give them the Blue Jays in return. :D

Antikarma 05-02-2003 07:54 AM

Hamilton man, lets kick an NHL team there.

Outta curiosity, how big is halifax guys? I know they got a CFL team now, and someone was saying they were getting love from the NHL. I coulda SWORN halifax was way too small for that tho.

/shrug damned if I know

Krycheck 05-02-2003 08:47 PM

I always thought Portland deserved a NHL franchise. But now i think that would put it out of alignment.
The Expos should go to Washing D.C as the Senators. But Baltimore won't let it happen if they can help it. But I think that's the perfect solution. Puting them in Purto Rico would be the second choice but I don't know how long that could last considering the per capita income there.

fearofmear 05-03-2003 04:47 PM

I think Cincinnati should have a real NFL team. The Bengals don't qualify as one.

Hampton Roads, Virginia (Norfolk-Virginia Beach) area is often mentioned in expansion rumors. They were a finalist for an NHL team but lost out to Columbus. We have a competitive AHL franchise, the Norfolk Admirals, and the New York Mets AAA affiliate, the Norfolk Tides; both are well-loved and supported here. Hampton Roads is the largest market in the USA that currently is without a major league team in the four major sports.

The drawback: much of the area's population is military and thus transient. It would be hard to build up a big loyal fan base, although visiting team's fans would be supported by their fans who are stationed in the area.

Kansas City, Basketball.

Look at the colleges that are always in the NCAA tournament or atleast putting up good numbers. Missouri and Kansas, it would make sense that the town that shares both states would have a Pro Basketball team.

Like Florida, Panthers (Tampa Bay is mid-state enough to get Miami people to drive up for a game once and a while and Atlanta ain't that far either)

Or Buffalo or Pittsburgh (two finacially troubled teams)

Glory's Sun 05-10-2003 10:01 AM

I think Charlotte or Raleigh should have a pro baseball team. Everyone in NC loves baseball so it wouldn't be a problem selling seats. We already have a pro football team(if you can call them that) and a pro hockey team heh what a joke.. so why not go with something we really want.. BASEBALL!

One I've heard is buffalo moving accross the border to hamilton. (NHL)
Buffalo: 292,648 (and city is decreasing in size)
and hamilton is 503,000.
That said, winnepeg or quebec getting the teams back would be great..

RyeZingSon 05-11-2003 11:42 AM

Washington DC needs a hockey team, basketball team and a football team. Oh you say the Capitals, Wizards and Redskins? Yeah uh huh. :)

Baseball would be a big hit here for awhile..then it would die down like it is in Baltimore right now. Camden Yards was always filled, now it is so easy to get a ticket to a game. If Washington or Northern Virginia got a team, I believe that it would be a MUST to sustain a high level of play after the initial excitement wore off.

Nobody can keep packing it in no matter how crappy they team is like the Cubs..

Artermis 05-11-2003 02:15 PM

Easy to get tickets to the Baltimore games because they suck. If they were even 10 games over .500 they would sell out more often.

The problem with Canadian teams is that the Canadian dollar is crap and it puts them at a huge disadvantage.

Hampton will not get one because Washington DC already has three major sports and Baltimore has a couple others also. PLus as you stated they support minor league teams so well and Owners are leery of putting major leagues teams that will take away from the minor league ones.

The NorthWest really needs to get some love from the major leagues owners in this country. There are tons of people up there who would love to have stuff to do and can support it.

I would also love to see places like Oklahoma City and Kansas City get something more than they got.

Instead of making new franchises with new owners just take away franchises from Abe, Brown, Bidwell and Shinn and then we would be in much better shape.

Are you aware that you are using the metro area population of Hamilton and only the population of THE CITY of Buffalo?

Zesty 05-12-2003 06:50 AM

Winnipeg should have a NHL team

GO JETS!!

Prophecy 05-12-2003 11:09 AM

I say move the L.A. Clippers to Augusta, Maine. It would give the Clippers a better chance to make it to the playoffs. Besides does maine have a proffessional team in any sport? I can't think of any currently...
