Long Time Losers

OK, I'm going to just admit right up front that I'm a Baltimore Orioles Fan. They don't suck the way that many teams suck, but then again they never fail to disappoint.

But you stick with your team, because one day they might do good, and then you can say "I was there". You root and cheer in hopes that you can say, "I was there back when they sucked". Every opening season is a clean slate where you hope you can say, "I believed in these idiots back in the day".

Sadly, the statistics don't lie. The great teams are already acting... greatly?

So, Who's your favorite sucky team?

Montreal Canadiens.

They missed the Playoffs AGAIN this year. But I stick with them, and in a couple of years, you'll see. They'll be on to Cup #25.

Yeah baby! Habs all the way.

And Orioles fan, there is a rumor in Montreal that if Vlad Guerrero might sign with the O's next year.

Here In Pittsburgh we have the pirates and the penguins. Quick, name somebody who plays for the pirates.

Pretty hard, right?.

but you have to feel for Miami: the Heat, the Panthers and the Marlins. shudder.

And Cleveland: Cavs, Indians and Browns.

In Fact all of Ohio's pro sports teams suck: the ones from Cleveland and the Bengals, Blue Jackets and the Reds.

Ahh, the Houston Astros.
They have yet to win a playoff series.
It used to be like this for all Houston teams until the blessed Rockets changed my life in 1994. I am a much more relaxed sports fan since their back-to-back championships. If the Astros could do this my head would probably explode.

I've been a Bengals fan since the days of Forrest Gregg and Ken Andersen. Painful. But, on the bright side, I never have problems with playoff games interfering with holiday plans.

I like the Reds. They used to be good, but nowit appears like the curse of Cincinnati. For more examples, see the Bearcats and Bengals.

I know the Bearcats made the NCAA tournament, but they always do bad in it.

I am another of the suffering Cincinnati fans. We used to have great teams...then Mike Brown took over, and the Reds invested in a hard-working, oft-maligned center fielder. And don't forget the aging shortstop. Not that I have a problem with Griffey or Larkin...both great players. It's just that a lot of the money tied up in their contracts could theoretically go to better pitching...all right. I'm ranting now...I'll stop.

My favorite football team is the Cowboys. Been a fan since the Danny White, TooTall Jones, TD and Randy White days.

I can get by with their basement play over the last few years because they were on top not too long ago and those memories are enough to hold me over until they rise again to prominence (Let's Go Tuna!!!)

Its these reason though that we have a favorite team -- to weather the low times and enjoy the ride when on top.

The Portland Blazers, they're my second fav basketball team next to the Lakers. The Blazers always start out well, then self-destruct before the hit payday. With all the talent thats been on the team its sad to never see them anywhere near a western conf. final game.

It's been so long, though... I'll be happy if the O's finish at .500 this year. It's tough competing with the Yankees and Boston in the same division.

Denver Nuggets. I remember back in the '80s when they were a perennial playoff team, then Bertram Lee and Peter Bynoe bought the team, installed Bernie Bickerstaff, and blew it all to hell.

Yeah. It's too bad that Edmonton is on such a tight budget in terms of player salary. Dallas-Edmonton series are always the best to watch. It would be nice, however, to see Edmonton come in with the upper-hand at least once.

I've got the Detroit Tigers and Lions here. They're conning us with new stadiums and new coaches, but it's the memories of '68 and '84 that keep me coming back. The Red Wings and Pistons help us to get by, but we need some warm weather hope.
