The entire state of Arizona is because they have the Cardinals.

New York City: Knicks, Mets and Rangers. Howvever, they have the Yanks and the football teams are good.

the State of Ohio: the Cavs, Bengals and the Indians.

No, not Detroit is not the worst sports town at the moment.

Atlanta is and has been for quite some time. People there don't attend anything. They may be able to sell out some Falcons games this year. Which is nice, cause they won't be able to sell out Braves playoff games.

The state of Florida: Devil Rays, Panthers, and Heat

florida's my pick for pro-teams.

Dolphins, Bucs ?

What's your criteria? Worst teams? Worst fans?

Teams: New York City (not including Jersey or LI) - Rangers, Knicks and Mets all stink, and the Giants could go either way.

Fans: Atlanta, LA, San Diego

The Bulls The Bears and the Blackhawks haven't exactly tore up their respective leagues in past few years.

What about Texas? Cowboys, Texans, Astro, Rangers, Rockets. Sure you have the Mavs, Spurs and Stars, but with the quantity in the state, you should have at least one .500 team in each league.

I think Mavs and Spurs make up for it, Stars are so-so but they also got A-Rod

i dont know how u can say astros suck....they're about 500 and are leading their division right now.

Don't forget the Browns. They suck too, but people love them around here.

Detroit isn't the worst. Not only do they have the Red Wings. They also have the Pistons, and they're gonne be good as hell next year.

First things first.

A sports town is determined by its fans, not it's teams.

And on that note, my home town of Detroit is an excellent sports town. The only sport we don't go to up there is baseball. Otherwise, the Wings, Pistons, and Lions all have extremely busy games.

Almost any Northern, industrial city is going to be a great sports town. That's just how it is.

Yes, Atlanta is nowhere near being a good sports town when compared to classic cities like Chicago and New York.

However, my fine city has been doing better and better lately.

Braves - They have the stands pretty full for most of the games. Yes, the novelty of having a damn good baseball team has gone down, but they still get their share of fans. We've basically had playoff games here for the past decade. Having a good baseball team is getting a little old here. :) Believe me, back when the Braves first got good, even regular season tickets were extremely hard to come by.

Falcons - We sold out our first preseason game this year. It's going to be hard to get tickets to any games this season. I hope I can get my hands on some because I want to take Van to a game.

Hawks - Yeah, they suck. Even when they were somewhat decent, many people didn't go to their games

Thrashers - Started out slow, but they are picking up steam. The games that I have been to have been packed (and exciting). And with a new coach and a semi-bright horizon, attendance could pick up even more.

I'd agree with the state of Ohio. With the exception of Ohio State football, none of the teams that play in the state would make me want to get up in the morning.

i go to college in ohio, and it is the worst state for pro level teams, its absolutly pathetic. It does make them all the more osu fans.

thats as far as ya need to go, Bucs win the super bowl, Lightning Make the playoffs when SI ranked them #30 last season, and the magic make the playoffs, but always lose.

Florida also has several great college football teams, and the Arena Football League champion. Plus you get half of spring training every year, so don't complain.

Lets see now. In every criteria, the Packers absolutely KILL the Bengals. As in, the Packers are about in the top 3 in the NFL for every one of those criteria, and the Bengals are in the bottom 3. And what happened on July 31st this year? Ohh yea, the Reds firesale. Well, Cincy always has it's Div I basketball program, that's always something to brag about.

Detroit no. Red Wings are huge.

I'd go with Cinci. Oh, and for those who aren't from around here, Ohio isn't a single sports town. It's three different sports towns. Cleveburg is very different from Cowumbus which is very different from Sinsinatti.

Red Wings are great, Pistons are good, and by some miracle, the Lions may actually be watchable this year. Don't quote me on that, but its just so crazy it might be true. Still no hope for the Tigers, though. So i can hardly beleive that Detroit is the worst sports city in the USA at the moment.
