King Rafa
Well, it wasnt the absolute best standard of tennis today, but still an amazing game really... probably two of the top five greatest players in history (to me Federer is the best ever, even a couple of years past his peak he's in the top 5 ever; and Nadal is probably the greatest clay court player)
The thing about Rafa, and I think I made this comment here or somewhere else after Wimbledon last year: is that he is probably the only sportsman I can think of who seems to ALWAYS respond to pressure and being in a tight corner with more aggression and stronger play. With Federer, he will sometimes hit a rhythm in which he is simply unplayable and untouchable - he can real off 5 or 6 games in a row against anyone, but you do feel that its possible to get to him... and in the last 3/4 years more so. But whenever Nadal is in a tight corner, or up against it, he just seems to hit his top form when he really needs it, and to come out attacking when his opponents think he's there for the taking. I dont think he has any fear of losing at all. As nice a guy as he seems of the court, on the court he is just utterly ferocious. |
