When we get older: thoughts on aging and sex.

I was lurking in the Ladies Lounge and what someone said in this thread (about a Man's love for his aging wife being like his love for a loyal dog) really offended me.

While a woman's breasts may sag and her hair turn gray, that does not change that she is a sexual being. Any decent man would recognize that he ages too, and I guarantee when I get in my 50's my wife will be the sexiest woman in the world to me. Sexual attraction stems not only from the eyes but from the heart and the mind. Remember, your largest sex organ is your brain.

My parents still have it going on. The way my dad looks at my mom and way she looks at him tell me they're both still fiercely in love. Even though their bodies aren't the same, let me tell you that they're still undeniably attracted to each other both physically and emotionally. To suggest that my dad loves my mom as he would his pet is both wrong and greatly insulting.

About the erectile drugs also mentioned in the thread; a man's physical condition causes that problem, not his aging wife. If old women were to blame then the pills would make women look younger to him, not help men get blood flowing more in certain areas.

I'm glad you were able to get this out there, sorry I couldn't help you more.

I especially agree with what you are saying in the last bit, drugs help the man's physical problem, not the woman's appearance.

And I think what is also being forgotten here is that woman aren't the only ones that sag and wrinkle, men do as well. Personally, I think old couples are adorable and everytime I see one, I say a silent prayer that I will be a part of one someday.

As I age, if the man I share my bed & body with cannot find me arousing, I'll take a trip down to the corner store, buy new batteries for bob, and show him I can still make the earth move...for me.

I don't see any need for discussion on this subject. All you need for sex is someone who's willing to participate, and anything else that anyone has to say about it is pretty much void.

I found it very offensive too...I'm glad we girls aren't the only ones who think so!

Gah! I hope to grow old and grey with a woman I love, her body or mine aging will not have any effect on how attractive I find her! Physical appearance, bah, that tells you nothing about someone, its whats inside that counts!

It's beautiful to grow old and still find your wife/husband still attractive. I don't even think real people notices the sag in the breasts, wrinkles, and grey hair. It's what's within, and a good person would look beyond the physical being of that person.

Ageism is no more correct than any other narrow way of describing people.

when a couple are a good match age is no matter. We all get old. I happen to be attracted to older guys and when im older i will probably be attracted to younger ones. hehehehe Once you find the right person age and aging doesnt matter

Just cause I don't wanna see it. Being shallow and all. Doesn't mean it's not okay. Everyone has the right to get freaky. If you're not affraid of bustin' a hip... fuck on, my friend, fuck on.

and what is exactly wrong with being an older person who doesn't wanna see it either ? Is it wrong for an aging woman to acknowledge that time has made her physically undesirable and to withdraw from sexual relationships ?

I'd love to see an older person here get bruatally honest and tell the truth about how difficult it is to become aroused physically enough to have sex with their older spouse.

It's a two-way street. I'm older and so is my husband. I also like looking at 30 years old, slim, tanned, tight men with a "come hither" look. That turns me on.

it's a very different arguemnt to say "sex has become less important to me and my partner with age"

and

"sex becomes (should become) less important to people (especially men) with age."

I am a male, about to turn 54 in a few days. I honestly don't feel much different than I did when I was 34, as far as sex is concerned. Still no problems in spite of the fact that I take blood pressure medication. Can still hit the bedpost (if you catch my drift) on a good night.
