Lost the urge?

Hi, in my other post titled "What should I talk about?", I explained how this one girl whom I've never spoken with before gave me a note saying she wants to hang out.

Since then, (Friday the 17th, October) I have not had the urge to masturbate at all. Before, I would have done it more than once a day, but now I don't feel like it. Does anyone know why this would be?

It's officially named 'holding out' for her :D

Dude, if you go around with a loaded and cocked weapon, you are liable to have an illegal discharge. You need to unload that clip and holster that weapon, so that you can have a normal conversation. Go watch There's Something About Mary to understand better. But seriously, you would probably would rather have sex than masturbate, so that is probably what your subconscious is thinking "a girl likes me, I'm going to get some". You should keep up your regular activities, because that is how she perceives you. You don't need wild mood swings at this point.

My guess is you're just nervous.

Relax a little. Crank one off. When you do hang out with this girl, things will work themselves out just fine.

hahaha.. I had completely forgotten about that.. Some of the best advice a movie has ever given me :)

Yeah, but it's not that I expect to "get some", it's far from that. I'm nervous in the sense that I still don't know what to talk about or how I'll be able to go out with her because of my parents, but it seems like I've just stopped thinking about masturbating.

pocon1 10-20-2003 07:00 PM

good, i don't mean that you are thinking that consciously, but it always percolating under there, waiting to help you do something stupid. Not you personally, but you are a guy.
BTW, what is the matter with your parents?

You're thinking about things way too much. I know, it sounds easy to say, but that's what it comes down to. If you think about it so much that you actually have a conversation planned out and rehearsed, the moment things go off course you'll be in even worse shape than if you hadn't prepared at all. Seriously, just stop over-thinking it. Instead, go do something that you're good at - something that makes you feel good about yourself, to keep your mind off things and keep you in good spirits before your date comes up.

Heck, you can even kill some time by jerking off :D

Remember to let her talk, and then talk about her subjects. After all, you don't start a thread on TFP and then dominate it, right? Same thing applies.

Your needs are just changing, everyone has the urge to do it but it all depends on when you, unconcsiously, need it. Sometimes you just need it more than others, it's all a matter of your situation, now you have a chick...she's there for you, taking the place of your lustful needs....that's just that way i see it :D it's all good.

Maybe it's because I'm an only child, but they're really irritating when it comes to culture and society. For example, they are always commenting on what I watch on television or if I'm listening to music or not. I have a feeling my parents will be just as annoying on the subject of dating as well.

pocon1 10-21-2003 05:39 PM

Maybe that is because they care, or maybe they are giving you a hard time. It is hard to tell from this small amount of information.
One time, my stepfather came out when I was just starting to watch Boyz in the Hood. He said "what is this trash you are watching?" I said "Fuck you, you always criticize what I watch and I want to see this movie. (I never just flat out cursed at my parents) It's gotten a lot of attention and I want to see it", or something to that effect. I immediately apologized for cursing at him, and he calmed down, sat down and watched the movie, and afterwards said that he really enjoyed it. I don't know what you maty draw from this, but at any rate, maybe they don't care what you like, or maybe if you get their attention and talk to them about things they will listen. I don't know.
