According to my girlfriend, the most romantic thing I have ever done was picking her up at 2am and taking her to huddle house after she had her heart broken. Or when I took her thai chicken soup when she was sick. Both happenned long before we became involved. Or maybe the time we went camping and played chess all night before packing up and going to class at 8 am.
I would have guessed it would have been taking her on long road trips to crazy places, and out to awesome dinners. But I guess that just shows what I know. And the most romantic thing that happened to me? I guess getting told "I'm so completely in love with you" by someone who actually means it.

My gf and I wore claddaghs about a year into our relationship. After another two years I broke up with her for a week. To show her I wanted her back, I knelt and turned her ring back around. She felt that was pretty romantic, apparently.

When I proposed to my wife, I had flown in from where I worked, and we went back to our college town for dinner. While we were eating dinner, I had one of my old rommates set up a gazebo for the proposal. I had given him the details of how I wanted it: candles all over the place, a blanket spread out in the middle, a bucket of sparkling grape juice chilling and 2 glasses, roses on the blanket, and a radio off to the side playing a tape of songs I compiled and mailed to my roommate earlier. When we got there is was dark and everything was set up. She was totally surprised!! (And she said yes!)

Wow, nice friend you have there, johnnymysto!
I've never done anything romantic. Haven't had the chance. My ex-boyfriend gave me a necklace that he put on a My Little Pony. That was romantic for him, at the time... (there's a boring backstory..)

Last valentine's day I proposed to my (now) wife. I was super-low on money since I was saving everything I had to buy us a house (which I was able to do a month before we got married). She knew I didn't have any money so she said that she didn't want me to do anything expensive for valentine's day. I basically led her on saying I couldn't get a reservation anywhere, so we'd just get together at her place and I'd cook her dinner or something.
Anyway, Valentine's day was on a Friday which was payday so I had to do EVERYTHING on that day because I didn't have any money before then. On my lunch break I ran out and bought her engagement ring (she doesn't like diamonds and her favorite stone is garnet so I bought her a really awesome celtic-style ring with a garnet in it) and a matching necklace. I also picked up the flowers that I had specially ordered for her from a local flower place, and confirmed the reservations I got at the last minute at a local italian restraunt that she really likes. I had everything all set and picked her up, flowers in hand with the necklace laced into the flowers. I then started driving towards her place and at the last minute took a detour. After driving her around for a bit we pulled up at the italian place. We had an awesome early dinner (and bottle of her favorite wine), then headed back to her apartment. Before we went in I told her that I wanted to go for a walk along the river (which her place was on the bank of) so off we go. After a few minutes we're in a secluded place with a park bench so we sit down and she's telling me how great the day has been and how suprised she was with dinner, flowers and the necklace. After talking bit I tell her I have one more present for her and ask her to close her eyes. She takes a deep breath and closed 'em, and I did the whole getting down on one knee thing with the ring. I asked her to open her eyes and then asked her to spend the rest of her life with me. After crying and hugging and kissing she finally mustered the ability to say yes. 7 months later we're newlyweds, having been married since August 1st. ![]() I think the first big romantic thing I did was pretty early in our relationship (3rd or 4th date), and was what really made her fall in love with me. We had tickets (already paid for) for the premiere showing of the new Star Wars movie (we're both big geeks) and she got really sick. She told me to go by myself and she'd stay home but instead I went over to her place and made her some chicken soup and just did what I could to make her feel better (backrub, etc). We had a great evening even though she was sick and we missed Star Wars. Later we went and saw it and realized that we didn't actually miss anything at all, it sucked so bad. ![]() Jason |

When I was in high school I had a horrible reaction to poison ivy. My right arm turned black (with green pus) and it took several days for it to start to scale off.
I caught all the skin pieces in a baggie and presented them to my sig ot at the time. It was well received. And who says kids don't know romance?

After Lebell and I met for the first time and he had flown back home, I sent him a dozen long stem red roses. I'm excited to top that as we grow in our relationship -- but I thought it was a romantic start and men deserve to receive flowers too!

The most romantic thing I've ever done is something that she hasn't even realized yet, as I'm writing this......
I find myself truly infatuated with a girl who doesn't think twice about me other than as some guy she's friends with; yet I'm always there whenever I'm needed (or even just wanted). Okay, it's unrequited, but I'm willing to live with that as long as she's a good friend of mine..... Anyway, I just left her, and spent a melancholy car ride listening to her complaints about some other guy who has been treating her like shit. So I did the one thing that I know will be of some help: I told her that I believe in her, that I'm behind her 100%, and gave her a slow, long hug (with a peck on the cheek). She couldn't look at me, since she was ready to tear up at that moment...... ......But I knew that's what she needed: some unconditional support (and love, for what it's worth) from someone whom she trusts. God I want her to be mine! |

Coming from someone who has been in situations the similar if not the same, I truly applaud you.
Being honest with you, don't be extremely upset if she is never yours, and just be happy you gave her what you could. Unfortunatly, life isn't a happy ending... But to the point, I applaud you.

First night I spent with my first love I showed up at her door with 7 roses, 6 white, 1 red (meaning to everything from the number of roses and what not, kind of personal). So, then took her out to a nice dinner, and went to my favorite room at a plush local hotel; the fountain/fireplace room they have, way off the wayside, and hardly anyone is there. Then walked around the lake at that hotel, then drove up to an overlook of the city, built a fire and drank wine while staring at the stars. Then, made love till the sun rose.
The most romantic thing ever done to/for me. When the sun rose that morning I looked up and said "Look at the beautiful sunrise" only to have my head pulled back down for more love making. |

My fiance's favorite flower is the hydrangea. One evening, during a rainstorm I drove around the city collecting hydrangea blossoms. I had about 2 lawn-sized garbage bags full by 2 a.m. Afterwards, I went to where we work and arranged them all around her office. She walked into a sea of hydrangea blossoms in the morning.
The other thing I did that she still remembers fondly is the night I asked her to come over for dinner and a movie. She wanted to go on a picnic and acted a little disappointed since it was a nice spring evening. So, I moved my entire living room...sofa, lamps coffee table, entertainment center...into the back yard. We had a blast. Making out on the couch was never as much fun.

My wife adores the color purple, so I decided to buy her an amethyst set of jewelry over a couple of year period for Christmas. On our first anniversary I got her a 5 carat amethyst ring and put it in the ring box. I then bought a cheap stuffed bear that was wearing a pouch. I put the ring in the pouch and gift-wrapped the bear. She opened the bear and was actually thrilled (it was a very cute polar bear). I had to actually prompt her to look in the pouch.
