Pain after ejaculation?

Ok, not certain if this should go into sexuality, or health, but here goes . . . .

My SO has had, off and on, a pain after ejaculation. Doesn't happen every time, and isn't always as severe, but sometimes it does seem to hit about a 7 or an 8 on the pain scale. He says the pain seems to be almost where the tube coming from his testicles, and his urethra connect. At worst, sometimes he says it feels as though there is something stuck in there. It's a sharp pain, turning into a burning for upwards of a half an hour, and then it goes away. It also sometimes makes him feel like he has to pee when he doesn't.

He's been checked out by a urologist, who said there was nothing in there, no stone, no cyst, and no UTI - but couldn't tell him what could be causing it, or what to do, except to take antibiotics, and see what it does. But this thing comes and goes, so it just doesn't seem like an infection. We've been tested for all STDs, and are both negative for everything, so it's not anything related to that.

Needless to say - we're a bit stumped. Anybody ever had similar symptoms, or does this sound familiar at all? All googling has been fruitless so far for me

Any help would be most appreciated!

I don't know for sure if this is it, but I remember experiencing in my younger years, that after several ejaculations, they would start to hurt, and once they did reach that point, every other one would hurt more than the last, in the exact same way you describe. I also had, the false alarm with the peeing before, but not the burning. I'm not sure, but it sounds like the same thing that happened to me, and all my friends . Hope this helps.

Hmmm. Thank you both for your answers. Only problem is, it's after the first ejaculation. We haven't been able to go for any marathon sessions for a while now, so I'm not certain that would be the answer.

A doctor could probably tell you more. I would hate to diagnose myself when it comes to my reproductive organs.

Having said that, check google for something called retrograde ejaculation.

But I can't stress enough that you should talk to a doctor. Period.

Hey I bet he's a distance shooter!
Some times the muscle contractions and the velocity of fluids can make things hurt...
it sorta stretches the walls of the the ureitha ....
but from the discription "sharp pain then burning"...I thihk it might be poping a hernia....
there are differant kinds of hernia...it involves the intrieor orgains (I.E. the guts) beeing squeezed through a wall of muscle...
I think the muscle contractions are forcing parts of your tubing to push out between your muscle groups.and the sharp pain is the initial pinching of you tubing...after a few secondes to a few minutes the tubing popps back in to place ...but where it was pinched will burn..as well as the spot between the muscle groups will all so burn...

The fact that sometimes it makes him want to pee when he doesn't need to is a classic symptom of a urinary infection. From what I've heard some of these infections are *not* always detected by doctors.
I ejaculated too soon after finishing treatment for a urinary infection & regreted it. It was uncomfortable & felt 'forced'. If I had an infection again I would leave it a much longer time before cumming again. The internal 'plumbing' in a man is all interlinked & urinary infections can make things hypersensitive yet ejaculation involves a powerful muscle contraction.
As a layman my advice would be for him to avoid ejaculating for a while to let the ejaculatory muscles settle down & to drink plenty of water to flush out the system.
I trust he has had his prostate checked by a doctor?

My ex had this very problem. I know that a bit of rest and lots of water (perhaps some unsweetened cranberry juice) always helped him.

HTHS!

it's happened to me...it's a hell of a pain almost coming from my prostate. only has happened a few times so I only have the suspicion that it's from an "incomplete" ejaculation, where I might have not fully kept myself ejaculating. but, I have no idea since I'm not a doctor.

seems to get better within the hour, but it's excruciating until then.

Check out perony's disease. I'm not sure of the spelling. It is plaque that forms in the penis and can make it bend over time. Usually the result of bening while erect, like in some wild sex.

I have this problem sometimes as well. execpt my pain is right in the tip. I've been to a doc and he can't find anything. I've also noticed the strength at witch i ejaculate, and the distance I can get sometimes, I'm glad someone else has this problem, I never knew what it was. I usually drink lots of water and take a couple of advil then it usually goes away....

I'm sorry for hijacking the thread, but as long as we're talking about penis pains, I'd like to ask a question.

It doesn't happen after sex, but after masturbation the whole circumference of the base of the head of the penis hurts when it gets erect within 2 hours of ejaculating. Can somebody share some insight on what it might be? It feels like something is pushing on it. I'm not circumcised so could it be that the foreskin puts pressure on it? I'm not as much concerned about it as I am curious. Thanks.

Sorry LoganSnake, my SO hasn't had any experience with this one. Good luck to you, though - hopefully someone will come up with some knowlege for you.

To everyone else - thank you for your suggestions. I still swear it's in the UTI realm . . . but here's an interesting side note - We both quit drinking coffee a couple of weeks ago, and now the pain seems to have diminished quite a bit. He says he still feels the presence every once in a while after he ejaculates, but nothing compared to the pain that was there . . . . in all the women's health sites they say to quite drinking coffee and soda (high acidity?) if you have chronic UTI's . . . I'm sure the same rule would apply to men. . . . it seems to be working for him, anyway Hugs to all!

I know what your SO is going through thubpt, as it happens to me too. Not every time, but every so often. It does hurt. It pulsates. I went to the doctor about it, and he wasn't much help at all. He said it's common, shouldn't be a problem, but if it persists I should come in and see him. He wasn't much help. I know, I said that already. I wonder if it has to do with the frequency (or infrequency in my case) of sex. Perhaps they happen more when sex isn't regular or something.

I'm glad you started this thread. It's given me some insight into it.

I have the exact same problem. Honestly there is nothing to do for it exact the longer between your ejaculations i.g. days to weeks, the more likely it will hurt.the way i avoid this is i drink about a 64 ounce of water before i ejaculate and i urinate right after drinking. IDK why but whenever i can urinate a decent amount when it does end up hurting makes the pain go away. If it is the ame thing I have then do not stimulate the prostate by massaging it or anything like that, it makes it worse. its just one of those things in life we have to deal with doctors don't know what it is since no std affects the prostate like this. hope i could help
-----Added 2/8/2008 at 08 : 23 : 49-----
OH and btw daily masturbation is a way to keep the prostate healthy. which is what hurts on me anyways and i would imagine more people who describe the exact same thing

If he has a UTI then rest and water WILL NOT CURE IT. Bacteria from a UTI are persistent and will live in your system for months or years, even if a single flare-up is controlled and the symptoms temporarily go away.

Your urine is highly irritating to the urethra if it is compromised in any way. Caffeine makes it significantly worse, not to mention the fact that it is a diuretic and thus messes with your normal elimination routine. This is why cutting out coffee helped.

Urea can form crystals if it is not expelled regularly or fully, and these crystals scrape and irritate. This is why improving your hydration and urinating less-concentrated, higher-volume urine is helpful.

For bladdar health it is recommended to urinate every 2-3 hours when healthy, every 1 hour when fighting a UTI. If you can hold it longer than that, you aren't drinking enough and the urea crystals will cause you pain.

The reason I know all this is because for some reason I am very vulnerable to UTIs which, if left unchecked, can enter the kidneys and cause renal failure. I do not mess around with my kidneys and do not try to "get better on my own", not after having over a dozen UTIs and experiencing the severity of pain that an acute infection causes. Maybe for a man who is stronger against these infections, proper hydration would be enough to control the infection, I couldn't say.

It is true that unsweetened cranberry juice contains a component that inhibits the bacteria's ability to adhere to the urethra and bladdar, so it helps your body defend itself. To be effective, you need to drink 2 or more cups a day of pure, unsweetened juice (NOT ocean spray cocktail, which is, like, 5% cranberry juice).

I've experienced this feeling before myself. After doing much research on the net, the part on the underside of the tip is very sensitive and delicate. Be sure to avoid squeezing it and you won't get that burning pain.

This is what I'm looking for. My fiance just recently told me he experiences pain after ejaculation near where his tubes connect to his testes. But its only sometimes, not every time. And When he rubs the area it feels better and goes away. Any ideas? He doesn't like going to doctors and I just want to know if its something he's going to need to go to one for

I get this pain with masturbation occasionally... I went to the doc once and he said it was probaby due to irritation of the urethra... I dont get it often enough to worry about it.

I have a very similar problem, though the pain is more centered around the tip than the base. Also, when it happens I feel 'half-erect' - like the urethra is still 'firm', but the rest is flaccid. I too asked my urologist, and he suggested that it might be muscle spasms. It doesn't really feel like it, though, and he didn't have any real suggestions for fixing it. For me, it helps if I lay on my side, in a position that (so it seems) allows the little robot to drain. If I wait even a little bit before getting into a good 'draining' position (ie, the little robot pointing somewhat more down than horizontal), then I'm much more likely to have 'the pain'. And it is truly agonizing, so I try to avoid it as much as possible. It never seems to happen after I spank the robot in the shower, but if I do it flat on my back, and and don't roll over to my side asap...I know I'm likely to be in agony for the next 30 minutes or so. No fun at all.

A few weeks ago i started getting a similar "problem". Its been perfectly fine until that moment. All of the sudden a very sharp pain went through the penis then "disappeared", a few seconds followed by something that felt like a fist bunch in the groin/stomach. A short while later the pain disappears from that as well. I do not feel any pain or anything unusual when peeing.

Like i said a few weeks ago it started happen. A few days before that i felt like something wasnt right with the body, it was just a "feeling", i couldnt sleep for the entire day. Then it faded away... followed by what i first stated a few days later. Right now i hope for the pain to magically disappear so i am taking it easy and hoping for the best. A couple of days ago i took a closer look at the ejaculation when peeing(yeah, always a little left in the tube) and i noticed this very tiny crystal like thing disappearing into the sink. I didnt really get that much look at it, except that it looked "solid" and had a red tiny edge on it, which i assume was blood.

The disease/condition you are looking for is nowadays called Urologic Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (UCPPS) and it used to be called non-Bacterial Chronic Prostatitis.

A doctor told me that sex or even peeing sometimes if you push it out can cause little microscopic tears in the urethra and then when you piss or ejaculate it can cause a burning or stinging pain, it heals on it's own. So not sure how relevant this is to you, but thought it might help.

I've had this problem a few times. First and foremost I would get the ol' prostate checked out and/or encourage him to keep going after ejaculation, whether manually or if your current choices in birth control/family planning make this a possibility.

It could be a lot of things, uti, prostate issues, or half-assed ejaculation leading to muscle spasms similar to the phenomenon known as "blue balls" Nobody relishes the thought of getting their prostate checked, but it isn't a bad idea...

ive had the very similar symptoms as well. sharp pain then lead to burning pain after ejaculation. lasts for about 30 minutes .the pain slowly goes away everytime i pee. though just a decent amount. ive had this for almost 12 years now and the pain still sometimes comes up.
anyhow.from what i learned this pain always occurs when i ejaculate facing upward. and never when i facing downward. oh, i went to some urologist and too, no std, uti, prostate problems or stones. some of the doctors even reccommend me to go to shrink instead. i think this has somethin to do with the muscle, becouse it feels theres something "stuck" in there and forcing us to pee, i dont know. if anyone has finally figure it out pls post here.
thanks

Man I am relieved that it is a common problem

I've had this thing for years, and it comes and goes. What really helps me is sitting up straight after the ejaculation, sounds stupid but it worked for me, especially when I just feel that pain starting out it helps to either prevent it from growing further or stops it completely. The pain is sometimes intolerable, lasts anywhere from half an hour to an hour. It feels like a tiny muscle cramp in a very sensitive area. It seems like a lot of people experience it but doctors don't really know what it is.

Yea man exactly the same thing It happened to me on a date once, when I apparently had an erection, then went to the bathroom to pee and the pain came. It was brutal. I wonder if that is what women feel like when menstruating.

allright, last several months i always ejaculate facing downward, and NEVER experience this pain.totally gone .then last nite i ejaculate facing upward and boom! there it is...itscoming back, the pain forcing me to pee, and if i stay lay down and facing upward, the pain is getting worse. like usual, peeing right away and its getting better and better. i started to think there is something stuck in there , and when we pee, that "thing". thatgot stuck is somehow pushed away by the urine . it could be muscle problem as well. couse when we pee the muscle is relaxing.
