ingrown pubic hair?

well i shaved my pubic hairs basically because i didn't see why not experiment. I used a new razor and went to town on them.
Two days later i wake up with about 25 spots all over. i've researched about it all and it just seems as though it's ingrown hairs.
Basically is this the case? and if so what should i do? and what should i avoid doing?
thanks in advance

I keep mine smooth.. and haven't experienced this.. but next time, you may want to trim first and then use a good sensitive skin cream..and follow with baby powder or oil..

check out this thread for any and all info you could want on this subject..

exfoliatation is your friend! thats the most important rule!

but heres a few more..

first time try a trim only

then when your ready, shave down only. (make sure you exfoliate well before nd after your shave, and for the next few days. this is important)

when you're ready to shave up against the grain, you definately must exfolaite a lot more, and definately every day for the first few days)

Are you a male or female? The reason I ask is that men know how to avoid burns and ingrown hairs as their face is quite sensitive (and public).

Take your time, do it in the bath or shower (good and warm). This opens up the pours in your skin and softens the hair. Go first with the grain, and then perpendicular to it. Take your time and use a good sharp razor. Follow up later in the day with an exfoliation.

I'm sorry, women don't know/appreciate the art of shaving. I've seen then shave their entire legs in 10sec flat, while a man who knows could spend 2 min on his face and not be considered slow.

Also... expect some ingrown hairs regardless of how you do it. Hair down there is curly, it'll start to curl as it grows and will often curl before breaking the surface of the skin (hence ingrown hair appears).

shave every other day and it will get better, keep exfoliating.. I like to use baby powder directly after I shave and things are nice and soft and smooth.

Taking your time is important. The first time I did it, I was shaving for at least 30 mins. Not because it was super bush, but because I wanted to take my time and reduce the pressure which can cause ingrowns.

I've heard that Visine eye drops applied to the area after shaving helps prevent ingrown hairs.

May be an urban legend.

Yeah, they hurt like a sonofabitch. I get them in my armpit area on occasion, as well. Best advice I have is to moisturize. A lot.

A lot of good tips in this and the 'linked' string. Here's what I've found works well for me.

I always shave my face and anywhere else at the end of a hot shower, everything is clean and softened by then. Conditioner is your friend, it's cheap and works better than any shave cream I've ever used. Apply and leave it on for a couple of minutes before hitting the bits with the Mach3. The razor glides easier and the hair is much softer and easier to cut. Keep the razor clean; stroke, rinse, stroke, rinse, stroke, rinse. Not; stroke, stroke, stroke, stroke, rinse. Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate, it's the only way I've found to avoid ingrown hairs. I like to use facial scrub or a loofah. And I agree with the person above, always leave a landing strip. Hair traps sweat and oils from the skin that contain pheromones, they're the olfactory equivalent of everything your SO finds HOT!
