how do you find good hentai movies?
 

So, Sage and I have recently been exploring our enjoyment of watching Hentai movies and we're kinda having trouble figuring out how to find good ones. Neither of us speak or read Japanese, so it seems like most of the sites that talk about hentai are pretty much out since they're all in Japanese. We generally prefer to avoid the weirder stuff (anything that involves gore or scat or girls having sex with demons who have giant spikes on their dicks) but beyond that can appreciate most of the stuff we've run into (Sage especially likes ones that have lots of squishy juices going on... I do too really ;)).

So the question is, do any of you guys know about the hentai scene? Got any recommendations of ones to try out? Know any good reviewing sites where we could go and look?

The video store we used to go to (VisArt Video--do you have that up in Asheville?) has a huge wall of Anime, with some boxes conspicuously stickered "Adults Only". That's where I'd look first.

(I mean, after checking the torrent sites...)

I guess my question was really more about finding GOOD hentai. I've been getting tons of stuff from empornium, but it's pretty much of a crap shoot as to whether what we get will be any good or not, IMO, so I was curious as to whether there were any good (English!) hentai-rating sites or places where movies are described in detail so that we could see what exactly we're getting before we spend time and ratio downloading it from a torrent site.

well it depends how hardcore hentai you want to go? i've seen a bunch that are good but maybe not what you're looking for. Like Ustwo said, sometimes, actualy more like 99% of the time, it's rape. there are a few that isnt.

Find a place that sells ALOT of anime movies. In some if not most video stores like Tower Records, there are Hentai mixed in with the more tame stuff. Most of the Anime will read "Adult" but you can just read the captioning on the back. If you are looking for extreme hardcore Hentai, I suggest going to a movie rental place that has the "backroom " and then check to see if they have any anime there. Rent it and find what is good, and buy from that series. Alot of times you have hentai which is "blah blah volume 3". In most cases it will stay the same genre or level of hardcore throughout the series. Another way to try is look for directors, artists, and writers of movies you know you like and then look for movies by those same that you havent seen. I've found directors/artists tend to not stray from what they are comfortable in. BTW..this works for all types of Anime.

It isn't specifically for hentai, but anidb.info is an IMDB type site that has information on pretty much every anime released, including hentai. Most entries have a brief description and many have ratings as well. It might not be exactly what you're looking for, but it might help point you in the direction of some titles you would like to check out.
