who would you like to see on the dime?

Just wondering folks

hotzot 12-05-2003 11:20 AM

I'm getting the ball rolling. :)

Phaenx 12-05-2003 11:39 AM

Reagan. He should be standing on a mountain peak slaying commies with a sword.

Superbelt 12-05-2003 11:46 AM

FDR is in the top echelon of Presidents this country has had. Knocking him off for someone like Reagan is as great a dishonor as it would be if they tried to bump Washington off the One dollar bill or Quarter.

FDR should remain on the dime permanently.

Yes the father of the welfare state, that would be wonderful.

Superbelt 12-05-2003 12:00 PM

Actually, the father of the workfare state, But also the father of the "Get our asses out of a recession and defend the world from fascism"

While Reagan was the "My staffers all went to jail for felonies while I schlupped around in a alzheimer haze" president and the "I can't believe I utterly destroyed our nations financial security so quickly" President.

There's other ways to honor Reagan. Currency isn't "up for grabs."

Mostly because he is not dead yet. ;)

spived2 12-05-2003 02:02 PM

I think that I should be on the dime. An everyday average joe like me on the dime would be the best! Put that option on there.

hiredgun 12-05-2003 02:49 PM

okay, i admit it. i voted for marilyn.

Sparhawk 12-05-2003 04:33 PM

How about the guy from the Joe Schmoe show?

I second the motion.

Bring back the Mercury dime, I say!

Liberal or Conservative, who can object to Lady Liberty in a winged cap?

Ha, yeah, I'm an idiot. Later I'll be running through the snowy streets proclaming that I am a moron and forgot that Jefferson was on the nickel ;)

Peetster 12-06-2003 08:22 AM

We should have an input, it's our money. Well, sort of.

Averett 12-06-2003 09:09 AM

I think that was my problem. I don't have a nickel or dime to rub together :( Sniff, I'm so poor!

(I'm still feeling like quite the idiot!!)

It would be nice to honor Reagan in some way - Of course there is already a carrier bearing his name. It is a shame that a man who contributed so much is having to leave this world in the condition he is currently in. I am older than most who post on this board - not anywhere close to being ready to die but - I really think I would much rather be dead than end up in a state of just existing. Life has to have quality to be considered "life". History will be kind to Ronald Reagan - he accomplished much under his watch.

...and an airport (used to be National). Nancy has come out against the idea of re-doing the dime.

Maybe they could put him on the dollar coin, instead of politically correct women.

The last time I saw a dollar coin was in a casino about 5 years ago but I'd find them and use them if it were Reagan :P

Nancy think the idea of replacing FDR with her husband is a stupid idea too.

Me and her finally agree with something!

dy156 12-10-2003 02:51 PM

I think Reagan will one day get his mug on a coin, but despite my poloitical leanings, FDR should not be replaced by him any time soon.

The_Dude 12-10-2003 05:53 PM

I'd go with FDR.

MuadDib 12-10-2003 07:36 PM

Honestly, Reagan was such a die-hard FDR lover that it would almost be an insult to Reagan to replace FDR.

I want to thank Nancy for killing my thread.

Americans won't accept the idea of a dollar coin. They still consider a dollar too valuable to be as easily lost as coins are. You could put a picture of Jesus on the thing and it would get left in drawers. Also, all the religious communities would go insane. So maybe not a great idea.

Mojo_PeiPei 12-11-2003 12:18 PM

You think the "religious communities" would go insane if Jesus was put on a coin? the ACLU would attempt to crucify the Treasury Dept.

Kadath 12-11-2003 12:51 PM

True enough. It was a joke.

sky_driver 12-14-2003 05:51 PM

Who really cares? And why waste money on changing it! Just leave it the way it is!

Astrocloud 12-15-2003 01:29 PM

I can't believe that Ronald Reagan is beating Marylin in the poll. There's always been that joke about Republicans wanting to make sweet love to Ronald Reagan... now here's your proof.

KellyC 12-20-2003 03:08 PM

couple questions: who is franklin pierce? is he a politician? why Marilyn Monroe, is that suppose to be a joke?

i voted for FDR, although i think him being on a dime is too small for him, he should be on a bill, 20 would be very nice :) 50 is even better :) :)

MSD 12-21-2003 08:27 PM

I think that removing FDR from the dime would be an insult. He led our country through a fight against Fascism just like Reagan fought Communism. The carrier and the airport are big honors. Plus, he's not dead yet

President form 1853 to 1857, enacted the Kansas-Nebraska act (led to "bleeding Kansas,") and ordered the purchase of what is now Southern NM and AZ due to pressure by Secretary of War Jefferson Davis,

filtherton 12-21-2003 08:50 PM

I'd wear a shirt with reagan on it. It'd have his picture, all bold and royal looking. Underneath his picture it would read, "I undermined democracy in south america and all i got was this lousy t-shirt"
