But France is our friend! Right?????
BAGHDAD, Iraq — France gave Saddam Hussein (search)'s regime regular reports on its dealings with American officials, documents unearthed in the wreckage of the Iraqi foreign ministry have revealed.
The first Iraqi files to emerge documenting French help for the regime show that Paris shared with Baghdad the contents of private transatlantic meetings and diplomatic traffic from Washington. ...............http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,85274,00.html

France certainly hasnt been acting as an ally, they seem to be trying to undermine the US.

France is a thorn in the side of the US and the UK. The fact that France and Germany are best buds now is quite funny to me. It'll make it easier for Germany to invade them again...for at least the third time.

As for shooting in the back, I don't know. These types of things generally happen when it's convenient for the countries involved, right now I can't see any situations developing that the UK or Australia could (or would be willing to) use to their advantage that would disadvantage America. I say "would be willing to" because the protection factor is so great that they don't want to fuck it up. It could take decades before the timing is right to turn. Or maybe they never will. It depends on what is advantageous to them. But even the countries we're a little miffed at would still get our protection in the case of invasion, if it's in our interest. |
