i don't know who's more the fool, David Garrett or the rest of our Parliamentarians for appointing someone with previous convictions, regardless of their post, least of all thinking Garrett wouldn't eventually get sprung

according to the article, if i read it correctly, the offense took place 21 years ago. is there no statute of limitations on these types of offenses in new zealand? and how does this currently affect the citizens of new zealand?

after further research, Garrett actually committed the offense 26yrs ago and discharged without conviction 21yrs ago and it would appear we don't have any statute of limitations on these type of offenses in nz

if anything, nz's justice system is so poked, offenders get more support than victims

the ex-partner that tried to kill me certainly did

with regard to how Garrett's passport 'prank' is currently affecting nz'ers, the general consensus seems to be embarrassment and disbelief he was ever appointed even into govt

to add further insult to injury, Rodney Hide, Garrett's party leader was well of the passport prank, and Garrett's previous assault conviction, yet kept his mouth shut and continues to support Garrett
