I think something bad is going to happen...Part 2
Whoever missed the first thread, here's the link.
Quote:
Alright. First Bush signed the Presidential Directive which will give him dictatorial powers in case of an emergency. Now he's building facilities which provide "temporary detention and processing capabilities" in case of a "national emergency, such as a natural disaster." This is getting a little...convenient? This, along with his previous directive, have me thinking that Bush and Co. know something that we don't. I thought I couldn't get more worried, but, as this administration has done time and time again, I'm once again shocked by what they're getting away with. The complete lack of media coverage only aids my point that there's something going on which the Powers That Be don't want Joe Schmo to know about. Just to add insult to injury (or perhaps just more injury), the entire deal is going to Halliburton, one of the companies which has ties into the White House, and has gained the most profit from this unholy mess they call the Iraq war. I don't know what else the American people are waiting for. What more do they want? War profiteering is out in the open for all to see. Civil rights are being dismissed in the name of security, yet American remain continue to think, "I haven't been affected yet, so there's no problem." Lies, scandals, stolen elections, all for the public to see if only they were so inclined. What's going on? Is the majority of the population so uneducated that they can't see what's happening? Are we really going to let history repeat itself * ? Doesn't anyone else smell a conspiracy? Or am I just, once again, a cynic? Isn't anyone else worries by this? * Jews/Communists = Muslims/Terrorists; Reichstag fire = 9/11 and/or whatever the fuck might happen in the near future; Bush's Patriot Act = Hitler's Enabling Act.

The similarities are staggering, I'll readily admit. I get laughed at when I compare Bush to Hitler, but when people let me finish they aren't laughing. I do have a similar nagging concern in the back of my brain that comes forward every time I read something new about this situation. I have an Arab Muslim friend who is talking about leaving the country for good because he's worried about what could happen in the next 5-10 years. I can't really blame him. We had a lengthy discussion about whether it was right to flee or stay and try to make a difference under the hypothetical circumstance that this country went to hell in a hand basket. He would leave. I get the impression that he doesn't feel like an American anymore, which is heart breaking. I know I'd have my family leave and I'd stay. I'm not a violent man, so I'd find some way to fix the system without hurting anyone.
Some warning signs are clear, but I don't think we're there yet. It's responsible to keep an eye out, so, archetypal fool, I don't think you're a fool at all. You're vigilant. That's something to be proud of. |
