Rocky Mountain High
Here's some pictures I took this weekend on a hike that my wife and I went on to Shadow Lake Lodge. Great weekend for a hike in the mountains.
We went in from the North and went out to the South. Total distance was around 30km up and down. Edited to add a map of the hike. We went in via Arnica Lake Trail and Gibbon Pass trail and then went out via Redearth Creek Trail: http://www.shadowlakelodge.com/images/maplrg.jpg Start of the Hike: <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sherpahigh/Shadow%20Lake%20Lodge/ShadowLake002.jpg"> Hazy view of Castle Mountain: <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sherpahigh/Shadow%20Lake%20Lodge/ShadowLake005.jpg"> Arnica Lake w/ Storm Mountain in the background: <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sherpahigh/Shadow%20Lake%20Lodge/ShadowLake013.jpg"> More of the same: <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sherpahigh/Shadow%20Lake%20Lodge/ShadowLake014.jpg"> Upper Twin Lake w/ Storm Mt. in the background: <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sherpahigh/Shadow%20Lake%20Lodge/ShadowLake020.jpg"> ... <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sherpahigh/Shadow%20Lake%20Lodge/ShadowLake022.jpg"> more.. <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sherpahigh/Shadow%20Lake%20Lodge/ShadowLake023.jpg"> waterfall into Lower Twin Lake: <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sherpahigh/Shadow%20Lake%20Lodge/ShadowLake025.jpg"> ... <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sherpahigh/Shadow%20Lake%20Lodge/ShadowLake029.jpg"> Finally at the top of Gibbon Pass 7,500 ft.(looking South, where we're going): <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sherpahigh/Shadow%20Lake%20Lodge/ShadowLake030.jpg"> ...(looking North, where we came from): <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sherpahigh/Shadow%20Lake%20Lodge/ShadowLake031.jpg"> Shadow Lake Lodge and cabins: <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sherpahigh/Shadow%20Lake%20Lodge/ShadowLake035.jpg"> Our Cabin for the night: <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sherpahigh/Shadow%20Lake%20Lodge/ShadowLake036.jpg"> Rewarding view from our porch after the 6 hour hike: <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v346/sherpahigh/Shadow%20Lake%20Lodge/ShadowLake051.jpg"> Excellent time was had by us both. I'd recommend Shadow Lake Lodge for anyone who likes hiking and the mountains. Great food, people and stellar scenery. |

fuckin' awesome pix..........i really loved my time in alberta....such beauty.
thanx for the memories. |
Stunning pictures.
Really brought back memories of the two years I spent in Alaska when I was a kid (I love the sitka spruce!). Thanks. |
thanks for the comments. Overall I'm happy with how the pictures turned out, but they still don't seem to do it justice. The lakes and mountains were just amazing. I found it hard to keep from stopping every 100 meters or so to take another photo.
Hopefully I'll get out again soon to get some more shots. |
very nice, reminds of the wallowa lake area in oregon.
|
polarizer? lots of atmosphere, or just really humid (but its colorado)....

These were taken in the Canadian Rocky mountains, no polarizers or anything were used, just point and click. Not really that humid either. Any strange effects in the pictures were from lighting and smoke from forest fires. |
I love the mountains. I haven't been in so long now. :(
And that MAP is awesome. Did you scan that in? or is it from a website somewhere.. I'm amazed of the quality and detail of it. The pictures are really good too. :) |
I've done a fair amount of hiking in that area years ago. I sure wish I had a digi cam back then.
Thanks for some great pics. |
|

Peaceful :)
