Hiking & Exploring '07 (pics)

Pictures from early 2007 through last week in Colorado where I live.

If anyone can suggest ways to take better photographs (settings, techniques, etc) let me know. I shoot with a Canon S2 IS mostly on the auto setting. I mess around with the Av/Tv but I can rarely get the pictures to come out correctly.

Comments welcomed too! Thanks!

Wow what a beautiful place! Personally the pics with people just didn't work, they actually got in the way of the real subject---nature. Except the snowboarding pics which were about the snowboarders themselves, so they did work.
The same applies to pics with vehicles in them, it really detracted from the look of the photo.
If the pics are about people then they shouldn't be competing with a grand landscape. Otherwise it just looks like a standard vacation pic.

Pretty nice. I don't have much to add in technique because I'm learning myself, but looks like you get to enjoy Cheyenne Canyon a good bit. Used to be one of my favorite places, glad to see someone else enjoying that place!

You make a good point, thanks!

Yeah the Cheyenne area has been my favorite area this year! It's so close to where I live.

man, i lost technique in how gorgeous the area is. That, to me, is the sign of great scenery photographs.

You've got some truly breathtaking photos there! I'll be studying photography in college soon so I'm learning from you all.

Good advice, Hagatha.
