Pinnacles

Went out tonight to catch the sunset and look for spots for tomorrow's sunrise.

Here's what I have so far:

Those are amazing shots! I love the setting and great idea for the backdrop to your self portrait.

I wouldn't know how to fix it myself, but I bet there's some way to avoid/fix those white speckles in the sky above you. Actually... is that a photographic side effect or are you just able to see the stars in the sky before all the sunlight disappears? I hadn't thought of it, but I suppose that's possible in areas away from cities with little or no ambient light.

Either way, your stuff looks great!

Those white dots are stars. I shot the self-portrait sometime after 9pm. It's a 30 second exposure (f/5.6, ISO400). The sun set at approximately 8pm.

Here's one more from the outing...

Incredible play on light and backdrop, fnaqza!

I especially think that that your first and last photo in your original post are a testament to that...

Great scenic-scapes! A favorite of mine, already... Thanks for sharing.

WOW. I love your photography. What kind of camera are you using? Lens?

fnaqzna 06-25-2007 09:59 AM

I'm using a Nikon D50 with the 18-55 kit lens.

Landscapes always invoke emotion - your shots are quite beautiful.

Hey thanks, troit. Last one from this outing, I think...

I love this shot. Very creative and, I imagine, a bit technically challenging (sitting still for 30 seconds? Are you kidding me? I can barely sit still for 3!).

I added you as a contact in my Flickr account so I can see more of your stuff! :)

fnaqzna 06-30-2007 05:47 PM

Thanks! I did the same. :)
