Baby items for a big boy

My wife and I have a 4 month old that is already wearing size 12 month clothes and size 4 diapers. We measured 28 inches and 20 lbs. at his check-up about a week ago. I'm a very tall man so its not surprising, but I am worried about what to do when he starts to outgrow his stroller, car seat, high chair, etc.

Has anyone out there dealt with this before and if so, do you have any product suggestions.

My son, while not as big as yours, was also bigger than most kids his age. By 6 months he was 20 lbs, and I forget how many inches. I took him out of the infant carrier at that time (mostly, because I could not carry him in it any longer. Too heavy for me). I used a convertible car seat, that was still able to be rear facing and then once he had more support in his neck, I turned it front facing. He quickly outgrew that and is now, at age 3, in a high back booster seat. (For comparison, my daughter was in the car seat until she was 4 and used the high back booster seat until she was almost 6). I do not have a brand to recommend, it will depend on what you are willing, or able, to pay. I would look for one with the 5 point harness, and one that can last long (look for a large weight range). For the high chair, we had one that had several positions. as he got older and more sturdy, we started to straighten it more. It was not long before we bought a booster seat/high chair that attached to our dining room chair.

Lots of luck to you. I found that he outgrew things much faster than I expected. It seems like forever ago that he was in a high chair, now I am potty training him!

The sizes on most baby clothes are way off. My little girl who is 16 months old has shirts that say 12 months that are huge on her, but shirts that are 18 months that are too tight. Not sure about the car seat..etc. Good luck though.

Thanks

Thanks for your input. Clothes we can deal with I think -- provided we can find some that fit -- as they are relatively inexpensive. I really worry about the car seat, I guess I will just have to see how it goes with his growth to find out if we have a problem.

My daughter was in the 99.9th percentile for height and weight at birth and has stayed that way at 5.

Shopping for the new school term, we're buying her age 9-10 uniform clothes.

In the UK the standard clothes sizes were drawn up in the post war period and have been to small for decades.

The problem is that no shop wants to jump first - as all parents KNOW that their 5 year old is in size 6-7, or whatever...

As for a car seat, I recommend the convertable type that will allow you to pull off the back when you need a booster .. like these here http://www.target.com/gp/browse.html...8&node=3579961

hope this helps.
