What do you think of humanity?
What do you think of humanity? And do you want to move closer to the heart of humanity or less?
I've always been kind of distant. At first I tried to bridge that distance and felt like something was wrong with me. Then I became apathetic with the average person. I mistook the apathy for misanthropy. Now I realize it was blatant lack of interest in the common human. Nothing emotional about it. Not hatred nor alienation. Obviously I am human myself. I am not sure if this means that I am less human in an existential/philosophical sense, or maybe more human because all of humanity has an individualist factor. If not from person to person, then a country wide individualism. Like how Asian countries tend to be more "of the people" versus America's individualism. I have had depression once in the past (when my seizures weren't under control) so I know for certain this is not that. I would liken it more to an old man who feels done with the world. Not wanting death, but apathetic to life's cycles and tides. Maybe not quite that because I am still curious, and especially curious about what it would be like to be even more distant. I imagine it as peaceful (and it feels peaceful so far,) perhaps likening it to the harmony of an ascetic monk. |
I'm happy to be a part of it; happier when I feel more so. Being isolated makes me very uncomfortable & sad. I attempt connections with fellow human beings of all sorts in order to verify my belief that "it's just us here". This has so far not been disproved for me, so I continue looking. Individual packaging, still wondering.

Oh, yeah. I think it's not evolving fast enough, & is probably doomed.
|
Yea, we're all doomed. end deep thought
|
We must evolve, or we must perish.
The world is getting smaller with technological advances. Technology is developing at a much faster rate than our spirituality, ideologies, and politics. |
I feel about humanity much less than humanity feels for me. I don't want to move closer to it.

Good people, bad leaders.
The longer we survive without world ending war, the better our chances get for peace and such. We got through the 50's and 60's. I think from now on its easy going in terms of war and progress (in relative terms). I think the world will be a much better place 100 years from now than it is today. The technological advances we are making will ensure that. |
We beat the odds by not wiping ourselves out during the cold war, but we also beat the odds by overcoming smallpox and polio. More development of human knowledge and less focus on asserting our superiority whenever we find the chance is always a good idea.

can I use it as a signature? As for the OP, I feel that this quote is why humanity is slowly deteriorating. Many things actually. Someone stated technology is moving faster than our spirituality, ideologies, and politics. Also someone said bad leaders good people. Mix all that in, and we are in for one hell of a ride. I just say be good, do good, and try to spread the word. |
We survive only as some genetic/cognitive component of a more adaptable/survivable species.

"Needs improvement."

Zeraph, I mostly agree with your descriptions, and they're good ones, however I do hate a lot. It started due to school related things, and I've watched Dazed and Confused and Freaks and Geeks recently so it's higher than normal. I think I'm racist against humans, or maybe just against adolescents and those who fail to grow up.
All I want to do now is rant about societal structure. |
