How is it that GiantHumberger hasn't weighed in on this thread yet?

We should eat meat because it's tasty. We shouldn't eat humans, (except rapists and sex offenders) because that's gross.

Veggies are good too.

There was a thread on TFP, a while back, about lab-grown meat.
If this was safe to eat(short and long-term), feasible in terms of costs, I would have no problem doing this. If I could afford it, I would even pay more for this type of meat than meat from a living/conscious being.
There is no question that the animals we eat, just like us, want to live. Their pre-farm ancestors wouldn't have existed without them wanting to live.
There's also no question that they suffer.

Every time I see a video of farm factory animals dying horribly, often times agonizing for long periods of time before they expire, I'm infuriated that there's nothing done to make sure their death is quick, and as painless as possible.
Yet I still eat fast food, and meat that looks like it was produced by a machine.

On cannibalism, I wouldn't mind if it were necessary. It's just a bunch of decaying cells if the person's dead. It'd be a waste not to eat it. Everyone, feel free to consume my body, once I've passed. Just stay away from the liver. That shit can't be good.

I think cannibles should eat as much meat as they can. They deserve to get the same nutrition as non-cannibles. I think vegitarians are rediculous for not eating meat. Maybe cannibles should eat more vegitarians!

JJ, Are you drunk?

It seems to me that a healthy diet is easier when you include meat. That's what bugs me about all those "Vegetarians are healthier" articles. Of course someone that put an ounce of thought about their diet is going to be healthier than someone than someone that eats whatever they want. Even then, Just dropping meat from your diet and not thinking about getting the nutrients you're losing from another source is just as unhealthy.

Also, I don't see how cannibalism is wrong in and of itself. The problem is how do you get a good supply of good to eat dead people. Also, I'd like to see a study of disease and virus transmission from the consumption of human meat. As for the whole survival thing, I would think eating an already dead person would be a good source of nutrition. The situation would have to be pretty dire for me to take a life just to survive a few more days though.

Also, I'm all for human milk and ice cream.

Purely from a logistical perspective...

The thing is, you wouldn't want to eat meat that had been there for a few days, would you? You'd only want to eat it either shortly after the animal had died, or if it had been quickly prepared and chilled or similar. Not a problem with animals as they are generally killed for meat, you don't eat meat that you find dead.

The obvious problem with using humans for meat is that killing humans is wrong, or at the very least considered wrong. On that basis, the only human meat that could be obtained ethically would arise from natural or accidental death. I wouldn't want to eat any meat, human or animal, from an animal that died of natural or medical causes... and accidental death poses other problems.

This thread has encouraged me to find a way to legally consume human flesh so that I may be a more well-rounded individual.

You are what you eat, and all that? ;)

Most certainly.

I won't eat things that are too genetically similar to myself. This is because diseases that infected that animal will easily infect me. This applies to humans. If the human were free of all disease, and died of a natural cause, I would very much like to try human meat.

We don't eat it for the same reason we bury our dead--not doing so would promote disease. This is also why pork is outlawed in most major religions. Pigs are so genetically similar to us that we can accept skin grafts from a pig. The critters that inhabit pigs would also like to inhabit us.

I'm all for eating animals. I would like them to be killed in a quick manner, not allowed to suffer. If I had a choice, and the time/resources, I would kill all the meat I eat myself, clean it and cook it, so as to get a better appreciation for the animal's sacrifice. Pre-packaged cellophane animal bits just sterilize the process too much, gives PETA a foothold to scare people shitless because no one's being exposed to that stuff anymore.
