Home Alone
 

My parents are gone for a few days, so I have the house all to myself. I keep feeling like someone is going to break in here, because they know my parents went on vacation. I wish my house had a security system, but instead I'm just keeping all the outer lights on and bracing the sliding door closed. We have a dog, but she's tiny- I still jump everytime she barks.

This has a very simple solution...throw a big party! Then, tell some of your friends to sleep over, and you should be pretty safe. I wouldn't want to rob a house with a bunch of people in it.

There's nothing quite like being alone in a house to make you dream up all sorts of bad things. My parents were the stay out all night kind, so there was plenty of time I was in this 4000 sq ft house with noone but myself. Luckily we had an alarm, but I still would get all freaked out walking downstairs and thinking I saw things standing in the shadows.

Or just throw a small party, more of a get-together really. Just have a few friends stay with you, around 3 or 4. Safety in numbers and you won't have to worry about pissing off the parents like you would if you threw a huge party.

yeah i know- the solution is to have friends over...

Get an escort. Or at the very least a stripper.

:) I know what you mean, everytime Im home alone I get the same way, I close all the curtains and lock the doors and stuff. I'm always freaked cause our side door dosent even have a dead bolt on it! I just talk to people on the phone or net and try to stay away from scary movies on tv.

I've never been afraid of being home alone, cause I live in Australia, and the crime rate in pretty low here. Usually the first thing i think of if i am home alone is i can walk around nekkid if i feel like it

Rent out Home alone 1, 2 and 3.
Then rumage through your dads shed and see what stuff you can devise, lock yourself in a room with your dog and you should be right :D

I'm abit like Slim, walk around the house nekkid.. hehe

Friends are always good, and some kind of attack animal/weapon.

Me? I have Bows, bo staffs, sais, and other assorted weapons.

terresqueu- i've got a dog, but she's a tiny little thing thats harmless. when i grow up and own a place for myself, i'll probably get a high class security system, motion detectors, baseball bat, firearm...

it begs the question- what do tfp'ers do to secure their homes? anyone have a shotgun rigged up to the door?

When I'm in that sort of situation, I just convince myself that I myself am the most dangerous person I am likely to encounter. It's not actually true, but the power of the mind you know...

My ex-wife used to make me look under all the beds and check the closets before she would go to bed. I dunno, I don't see some psychopath sitting in a closet all evening while we watch TV and then after we've gone to sleep, jump out and attack us.
As far as rigging up a shot gun, it's called a man trap and I'm pretty sure they're wildly illegal. If you do try it, let us know how the firefighter breaking down your door to save your life managed after getting blasted with a shotgun. ;)

Like things weren't bad enough, the worst power outage to hit the US in years manages to take my house with it for four hours. Luckily I slept it off for an hour. Power is back at my house outside of Albany, NY, since 8:30

OK, so what does a guy like me do? My roommate has just left so this 2-bedroom apartment in downtown LA is all mine. Very, very cool.

But there are those times when I just feel like somebody's in the other room, or I'll hear something and assume it's coming from inside my apartment.

Maybe the answer is just to get some balls! lol

Whenever I'm feeling edgey, I play videogames! Sure, it's not gonna stop some axe-weilding maniac from sneaking up behind you and reducing your height a bit, but they at least stop you from worrying about him ;)

Family is home, men lurking in shadows are gone. whew

When I was younger I had the same problem.. Now I am not that concerned with being alone......until someone knocks on my door :lol:

Then just combine both of TerresqueÜ's suggestions: Use the dog as a weapon. ;)

just keep a knife nearby :) and be ready for anything, i dont want to scare you but anything can happen, parent home or not
