Laibach

A friend of mine recently introduced me to Laibach, they are probably one of the best Industrial bands out there. My personal favorite songs would probably be Achtung! and Tanz Mit.

Any other Laibach fans out there? Or Rivetheads in general?

i guess i wouldnt mind their music if it wasnt for the whole nazi thing, i much prefer rammstein when it comes to industrial music

I think every single industrial band has some song having to do with nazi germany.
And Rammstein is definatly not industrial.

i am surrounded by laibach fans.
i never particularly got into them because i dont like the wagnerian thing so much--but politically they are far smarter than a quick glimpse of them would suggest.
i am more interested in power electronics type stuff--lots of the same use of nazi symbols, rarely an actual nazi among them.

anyway, back to laibach: nsk is quite cool--it is the collective that laibach works out of--check it out via thier website. i particularly like that they issue passports.

Laibach has always been to cheesy/dramatic/Wagnerian for my tastes, but not a bad band. "Gibt mir ein lite Bier!" Roachboy's post reminded my of my "Mussolini Headkick" 12" that features an emaciated man lying on a giant schwastika on the back of the sleeve-it scared me at first but then I learned it was anti-nazi propaganda from the 1930s.

This is making me want to dig out my WaxTrax! blackbox again. It's been years.

rammsteins industrial metal, i know its not the same, but i think it still counts as industrial

Locobot 11-30-2004 12:07 PM

Let's not start another genre quibble, being anal about music catagories is pointless and stupid.

I'm reminded of my formative years reading rec.music.industrial on the pre-graphics internet--a good way to burn a study hall in the library "researching"

I wonder what happened to my friends on there and alt.punk.
