"A sea anemone, you're my enemy"

....painful to listen to.

I'm usually not a big fan or rap or any form of hip-hop, but you have to appreciate what happens when a girl at a club hears "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix-A-Lot. If you like ass (like me) then you like this song.

As far as recent music goes, "Downfall" by TRUSTcompany was pretty good.

Very cool thread optik_nerve, I have to go along with my music trivia partner God of Thunder on the two he mentioned, and would also like to add my favorite along with some others:

My fav: All Right Now- Free
others: Smokin in the Boys room- Brownsville Station
Mississippi queen - Mountain
For what it's worth- Buffalo Springfield
Hold your head up- Argent
Rock on -David Essex
Fooled around and fell in love- Elvin Bishop
Black Betty- Ram Jam
Der Kommissar- After the fire
Relax- Frankie goes to Hollywood
Radioactive- The Firm
Keep your hands to yourself- Georgia Satellites
Walkin in Memphis- Mark Cohn
Life is a highway- Tom Cochrane
The Freshman- The Verve Pipe
Check out: www.onehitwondercentral.com

*edit* after thinking about this list, Didn't Mark Cohn do "I wear my sunglasses at night" ? I love that song!

After noticing Der Kommisar, I feel compelled to inform you all that a cover of it was recorded by Option 30 (where Reznor was before NIN.) Haven't found it outside of file-sharing networks, but it's worth listening to.

Now comes the point where everyone ceases to take me seriously. I actually liked the Macarena.

I believe that that was Corey Hart, and it was most excellent.

Personally, I like Take On Me by A-Ha. Now that's a magnificent song.

Thanks for the tip. I like that song, After the Fall's version best, but Falco's cool too. checking around for the one you mention.

I thank god that I don't think I've ever heard the Macarena. heard of...but not aware of hearing it.

Anyways...fun thread

The best one I can think of atm is Soft Cell - Tainted Love..
but I may think of more.

Some good tracks already mentioned, but are not 'one hit-wonders' to me because I've listened to other stuff by the artists...Gary Numan, for example. ..or are simply things that don't wow me.

Hey guys- what about The Knack and their hit song "My Sharona?" Can't forget that gem.

There are a few songs in this thread that wouldn't be considered one hit wonders...

Well, I was just going to say that, ultra_agent9. My definition of a one-hit wonder is a band who had only one huge hit and that's it. Nothing else even came close.

Violent Femmes do not fall into that category, and neither do The Sweet.

My faves...

Tainted Love - Soft Cell
Out Lips Are Sealed - The Go Gos
Land Downunder - Men At Work
Relax- Frankie goes to Hollywood
Romeo Void - Never Say Never
Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come On Eileen

Here's another one: One Night in Bangkok by Murray Head.

True. 'Boys In Town' by Divinyls was a HUGE hit. And the 'ol Spandau boys had more than a couple of dosh generating tunes.
