Nine Inch Nails - Bleedthrough
Has anyone heard any updates on this since it was announced?
I know that Reznor was in the studio working on this and aiming for a early/mid 2004 release date... but I've heard absolutely NOTHING about it since. For those who haven't heard, the stories can be seen here: http://dogmatic.typepad.com/dogmatic...nch_nails.html (taken verbatim from their original sources) |
www.theninhotline.com - they have all the latest news on NIN and NIN-affiliated artists (Tweaker, Vrenna, Lohner, etc)
Bleedthrough is scheduled for late fall/early winter of this year. There may be a US tour starting in August to help promote the album, and then a world tour after the album comes out. |
This is my first knowledge of the new album. I will be keeping my eye open for any news. As a longtime NIN fan, I'll be anxiously awaiting this one.

i cant wait for this. i really can't.

Hi. I'm new here, but I'm a long-time poster on an NIN forum.
The general concensus among NIN fans with any Reznor release is to not trust any info that hasn't been confirmed on the offical site (i.e., nin.com). Trent's got a very pronounced prefectionist streak that usually leads to excessive delays of his projects. Right now, he's got Bleedthough in the works and the Tapeworm project with Maynard from Tool, but the sum total of official info on them was a couple cryptic webpages about Bleedthough on nin.com and some studio pictures on tapeworm.net (both have since been removed). It sucks that we don't know anything, but speculating on unconfirmed info almost always leads to disappointment when NIN's concerned. |
if he delays any longer, he'll throw off the pace of a new album ever 5 years
|
It can't possibly take longer than Tapeworm, can it?
|
Quote:
I hope it doesn't take longer than Tapeworm; I think next year will be the tenth anniversary of the beginning of that project. Trent's just a black hole of non-productivity recently. Almost every project he's been associated with in the past three or four years has been delayed to high hell (including Doom III and Zack de la Rocha's solo album). |
I'd rather he put out great albums spaced far apart than really crappy ones rapid fire. Not that anything I say matters to him, of course.
|
nicely said roboblastser. quality not quantity.
|
www.nin.com has officially reopened. It is confirmed there that Bleedthrough *will* be coming out this year (under "Body of Work," "Bleedthrough" is listed as coming out in 2004).
|
Awesome. I've missed nin.com.
|
Also, there's a section of the site where you can ask Trent questions, and he has actually been responding. My personal favorite is this one:
http://www.miamihost.net/ims/u/memno...ent%20haha.JPG |
From what I've read, it sounds as if Trent's going to get a little brutal on Bleedthrough, as opposed to all of the "mellower" stuff from The Fragile. We could use a nice kick in the face from NIN.

I was almost prepared to stop having nin.com as my homepage until the recent update. Now I kill 1/2 an hour every morning updating myself.
|
I wish he would update since the 12th  I am VERY excited for the new album. It seems like it will definitely be a move away from The Fragile and Still, even though I liked the toned down stuff so much.. Also, he tells us that there won't be any instrumentals on this one as that side of nin might become a side project if I remember correctly, and he's also stated that there will be *no* chords anywhere on the album. Scary. All I know, though, is whatever he comes up with I will be intensely in love with it as usual :)
|
I have always liked the balance between the heavy and not so heavy on his albums. The transition from "Big Man With A Gun" to "A Warm Place" is one of my top album moments for any band.
|
NIN.com has been updated.
Apparently the CD is now complete and will be named "With Teeth"! [edit] Nevermind, "With Teeth" is probably the single, because looking at the Halo list, 18 is still missing and "With Teeth" is Halo 19. Although.. I dunno. Hm. Guess we'll wait and see. [edit2] According to MTV, the album is "With Teeth". Here's a link from Billboard about it: http://www.billboard.com/bb/daily/ar..._id=1000748256 |
Quote:
It will then probably be followed by another single and a remix disc, so Trent can buy new computer games. |
after he first changed it from bleedthrough he said that he was going to keep the name a secret and then all of a sudden with teeth was everywhere, so i might believe that single is with teeth and the album is still secret.
|
|
The suspense is driving me insane.
It's finished, yet no release date?! How long from the finished state until discs are pressed and shipped? |
I'm thinking it will be released in early march.. but I could be way off. I have no real reason to suggest this but it's a hunch. I've been waiting for this for a while so just like many others have mentioned..the suspense is killing me.
|
He's also mixing a 5.1 version of it as well for a simultaneous release.
Good thing, too, because I was planning on getting a good set of speakers for my HDTV pretty soon :D |
Quote:
was too lazy to edit it and make me look les stupid |
Indeedy!! I'm.. very.. excited.. about a new tour. Fragility 2.0 was completely awesome. It is a good time to be a NiN fan!!!
|
Awesome. I'm really looking forward to it. Thanks for all the updates, guys... should be good!
|
On the list of updates, the tour band is completely finalized and will star..
Alessandro Cortini -Keyboard 'n stuff (Who is he?) Jerome Dillon -Drums Aaron North -Guitar (Who is this guy?) Jeordie White (Marilyn Manson, APC) -Bass "With Teeth" is scheduled to be released May 3rd, 05. Not from the website but a little funny.. (May be rumor..) from blabbermouth.net" "Trent also added that he ditched the original working title for the new album, "Bleedthrough", because 'people were thinking about blood or a tampon commercial.'" |
Where did you get the May 3rd release date? nin.com hasn't had an update yet for that.
|
Quote:
he updated it pretty late last night its the 3rd question down. i was hoping for a march release in the us :( |
I'm so pissed. The 2 London shows sold out in 14 fucking minutes. This will be an expensive trip to ebay :D
--jaded |
A few were just sold for around $200.00. Woe is me, I should have bought some when I had the chance.. That's pure profit..

Thread revival: There is a new update with a clip of one of the new songs as well as a track listing. Damn, this album has me exciteder than I should be.

holy
fucking shit. i've watched that clip 832982 times. i'm so excited! |
Whoa. Thanks for the heads up!! This album is gonna kick my ass..
|
I've got 2 tickets (general admission) for NIN live in London, March 31st!! 1800 person capacity! Oh happy happy joy joy! *does happy dance*
Just don't ask me how much I paid for them  --jaded |

hahah, I just watched the clip too.
All I can say it "bastard, release the thing already". |
Patience, patience.. :)
For those of you willing to <a href="http://www.burningsoulsforum.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=11444">ruin the joy of waiting for the song,,</a> theres a guy on Burning Souls Forum that was on the set for the video of "The Hand that Feeds" and posted the lyrics he remembers. He's got the call sheet for the video too, so he's legit. Oh, and <a href="http://www.dresdendolls.com">Dresden Dolls </a>are opening for NIN for the concerts thus far. Very annoying stuff, IMO. |
he knows he's got us all by the balls
yep |
Man.. just release it! hehe.
I like the Dresden Dolls.. seeing them and NIN in the same show would be great. |
ooooh... sketchy. There has apparently been a high(ish) quality leak of the track The Line Begins To Blur from With Teeth.
I am terribly terribly afflicted with the urge to try it out.... am currently resisting. |
I have given in to temptation. I'm not sure if the leak is real but it certainly sounds authentic enough. Could be a pre-mixed version too. I love it.
--jaded |
Yeahhhh temptation and I get along very well.
This song is awesome. I'll still buy the CD anyway, but damn it's nice to hear something new :D The hand that feeds is out also, but it's a rip from the radio. |
is listening to 'the line that begins to blur' at this very moment.
/me wants to have Trent's babies. |
Yep, so it turns out I'm pretty spineless after all. Sorry Rezman. The song is pretty cool tho, should tide me thru till the release of the album.

I have VERY high hopes for this album. I hope I am not disappointed. I must admite I was not blown away by the video.
|
The video was good, especially good now that I am a little inebriated... The 30 second clips were cool too. Only sounds good, Sunspots sounds good.... It all sounds so good..
I couldn't get a ticket to the Chicago show, but I'm going to hold out for the fall tour. |
I wasn't absolutely floored by anything off With Teeth that I've heard so far, but they're growing on me. The Hand That Feeds grew on me faster.
I wonder if I can get usenet in NZ?... |
You know, I have never been blown away by nin the first time I heard anything by him/them. But the more I have listened to the albums, the more I grew to love them.
|
Lak check out
http://www.newzbin.com however finding an actual usenet provider might be kinda hard..! I use http://www.newshosting.com good luck |
Anyone heard the song "The Hand That Feeds" I believe it is the new single, if im wrong please correct me
cause its been going on the radio all over here.. quite good song |

Ok.. am I the only one who didn't really like that song? The Hand That Feeds...
When I listen to NIN, I listen to richly structured, atmospheric, moody music... not pop rock. |
It's no more "pop" than songs off Pretty Hate Machine, IMO. Especially Sin.

Hand that feeds is still better than 98% of the new stuff out there |

but, SiN's a good track :D |
This album has a lot of mixed elements from his past albums... PHM, Broken... especially Downard Spiral mixed w/ Fragile.
It's pretty interesting. So some things will sound "poppy" but... it's NIN, nonetheless. I'm enjoying "You know what you are". Very nice change from the normal song to where he starts screaming, "Don't you fucking know what you are?!" |
I started listening to NIN during "The Fragile" era- I'm a latecomer. I really liked that album. The more I heard the older stuff, though, the more I started to appreciate that- and that drove me into darker, industrial music as a whole, where my tastes lay for the most part at the present. The new single sounds like PHM, I agree. I really like it though. A radical departure from The Fragile, but I can't stop listening to it. The only problem I have with it is that the lyrics just don't do it for me. Usually, NIN gives me something I can chew on for a long time, this song has a typical chorus/refrain structure and the lyrics.. don't really tell a story.. Yeah, PHM'ish. Good in a different way, not something to sit and analyze.. but to chant at a concert!!
By the way, all I've heard of the rest (with exceptions of Getting Smaller and TLBTB) are the 30 second clips, and some of those songs sound GREAT. I don't want to ruin this album for myself but I just can't help it.. :( |
the more i watch the video, the more i enjoy the song. i havent heard any of the others so i cant judge yet.
But i must say its weird looking at Twiggy and having him be just jeordie again after years of being more or less a cross dressing speed addict. the latter may or may not still be true i dunno. just odd to me i guess |
NIN - Live - London - Astoria - March 31st - Sold Out
2 days away I can't wait! --jaded |
^ veeeeery envious, and waiting for a detailed report after :)
|
I'll give you a full report SiN :D
--jaded |
There's a song he plays live that won't be on With Teeth called "Home", which is pretty damn good.
On the last update to NIN.com, he said there won't be as many remix CDs this time around and that he's planning a follow up album in a "timely fashion"... in other words, there won't be as long of a wait as there was from The Fragile to present day. |
theres no such thing as timely fashion in the world of Trent Reznor
|
OK, here's a late report from the London, Astoria, March 31st show.
Wow, is all I can say. The show was, as expected, awesome. It had a really old-school feel if you compare it to the "And all that could have been" dvd. Not much fancy lightning, effects or a huge stage to run around on. It was simply just a fat punch in the face. Brilliant. The setlist for the show looked like this: The Frail The Wretched You Know What You Are? March of the Pigs The Line Begins To Blur Piggy Terrible Lie Burn Closer Reptile The Big Comedown Gave Up The Day The Whole World Went Away Suck Even Deeper Wish Hurt The Hand That Feeds Starfuckers Inc. Head Like A Hole So just 3 new songs (but I guess they played more new material the previous night) but that didn't bother me at all since I've never seen NIN live before. The opener Frail/Wretched gave me goosebumps. The new guitarist Aaron North is fucking money. He has an amazing stage prescence and steals the spotlight from Trent on quite a few occasions. The new material works really well live. "Know what you are?" is awesome, very fast and a killer chorus. "The line begins to blur" is heavy and distorted and like "Know what you are" contains a chorus to die for. My second favorite moment (Frail/Wretched being #1) was when they played "The big comedown". It is one of my favorite NIN tracks and I didn't think it could work live, but man was I wrong. Aaron destroyed his guitar playing it. I spent a fortune on tickets for this show and I can happily say I would pay double for the same experience. If you're not a huge fan of NIN but a fan of music and live shows make sure you catch them touring this year. It's worth every cent. I promise. --jaded |
The actual version of "Home" is now at alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.complete_cd.
It came on the limited edition 7" vinyl so.. you won't be seeing it anywhere else anytime soon. I also believe it's an extra track on the Japenese version of With Teeth. |
Stompy - I just downloaded it from an ftp, it's The Hand That Feeds Vinyl, with home as the 2nd track.
Quote:
@ Jaded - Thank you very muchfor the report, sounds fucking awesome! |
Well for those of you who are keeping track.. new cd is out on usenet it's an advance @ 192 not APS
alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.complete_cd  |
I gotta say my impression after one listen is that it's pretty damn good.
|
Funny you should say that, Jesus Pimp said the exact opposite. I personally, am going to wait for the album release.
|
I'm going with brandon on this one. I've listened to 3 leaked tracks and really liked them but I'll wait for release to hear the rest. I've also heard "You know what you are?" live and really liked it as well. Only a few weeks away now!
--jaded |
I'll definitely be picking the official release when it comes out, but I gotta say the leaked tracks are pretty high quality. Heres the listing:
All the Love in the World You Know what you are The Collector The Hand that Feeds Love is not Enough Every day is Exactly the Same With Teeth Only Getting Smaller Sunspots The Line Begins to Blur Beside you in time Right where it belongs This might change but I kind of doubt it this close to release. |
I feel like you guys are being too easy on this. From what I've heard so far, this is nowhere near what I've come to expect from NIN.
When it comes to industrial music, I could give a shit about melody. Melody makes me lose focus on the music. This shit SHOULD be an experience that makes you want to disect every little element in the sound. *pops in his deluxe edition of The Downward Spiral* |
I've listened to the leak and though I don't think ti's up there with Fragile and Downward Spiral I still quite like it... it grows on ya. It isn't industrial, it isn't very electronic... it's more alternative rock.
I didn't want this as the new NiN album BUT I still like it and bet if I give it a few more spins on the iPod I'll begin to love it. All the same, come OFFICIAL release date I'll be picking up my legit copy. |
The new tracks sound.... well they sound "accessable". I dont know if Trent is intentionally dumbing down his work (I find that unlikely) or if he just felt like it was time for some simple, neat & tidy tracks, but I do agree with Halx - it doesnt hold a candle to the previous records. Doesn't even hold a dying ember, actually. Stylistically, it's a throwback to Pretty Hate Machine (complete with decisively average lyrics).
Pretty Hate Machine still kicked ass tho, and this record will too. It just won't be as intricately detailled as The Downward Spiral, or The Fragile. And for the record, Leaving Hope is still the most beautiful song ever. |
I for one am glad Mr. Reznor has again found his teeth, the Fragile was a bit precious and relatively hookless imho.
Only is a definite return to the PHM era but with much better lyrics, how he makes that timing work, much less danceable, is beyond me. The last track Right where it belongs is such a tender fuck you to all the moms and squares who "just like Hurt." The lyrics are a new frontier of bleakness, the music beautiful. Candy-coated cyanide. Somehow the crowd roar that fades in is distinctly inorganic, just another type of distortion. Every NIN fan has their favorite previous album. I'm glad he's not trying to recreate just one sound from his past. Might backfire and alienate everyone, but I suspect this album will be better received than the Fragile. |
Do you have a Mac? Do you have GarageBand 2 on your Mac?
This article at MacWorld points to a free download from NIN of "The Hand That Feeds" in GarageBand format, go ahead and start your remixes! I've never even started my copy of GarageBand. I think I will now, just to see what this is like. |
upon further review.. I think he's being about as progressive as polka. I wanna hear shit I've never heard before.
|
For those who haven't downloaded the leaked tracks you can listen to "Every day is exactly the same" from bestbuy.com
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....cat58700050008 If you get a cookies must be enabled error, just browse bestbuy.com for a bit, then copy and paste the url from the same window and refresh if needed. Wow, that's my favorite track that I've heard off the new album by a mile. --jaded |
[With_Teeth] has been delivered to retailers EARLY. I'm assuming you can pickup your copy of the album today!
See http://www.theninhotline.net/news/index.php for more info. EDIT: Well ninhotline just got updated and states that the album has been delivered but will NOT be sold until May 3rd. --jaded |
