Electric Six

Does anyone here like this group? They are from Detroit, and are on tour nearly all the time. I saw them last week, along with maybe 100 people (should've been more) and they put on an awesome live show. If they come around, you should lay down the 10 bucks for a ticket and see them. Good times.

I don't know how popular their music is; I don't get MTV so I have no idea if they get any wide exposure or not. They sing songs with titles like "Dance Commander," "Nuclear War on the Dance Floor," "Improprer Dancing"... you get the idea. They are not the most serious band in the world. The sound like a strange mix of rock, disco, and new-wave.

On the internet there are a few video versions of their song "Gay Bar" made by various people. This one is pretty amusing:

And that is my report on Electric Six. Thank you, thank you.

I second that. I saw them with Junior Senior and they put on a very entertaining show.

btw they have another song that's really good called Danger High Voltage

HeadyIncognito 04-15-2004 02:58 PM

Yeah, I downloaded their album, and the only songs that I really liked at all were Danger! High Voltage, and Gay Bar.

the other vocalist on Danger! High Voltage sounds a lot like Jack White but i think the guys name is Oleary

Their CD, Fire, is pretty damned good. You should be able to find it at most music stores. And the guy on High Voltage IS Jack White. THey just don't use his name because they don't want to become famous just based on the fact that he's on a song.

the other rumour spread about High Voltage is that the sax player is Bill Clinton. that ones probably not true though.

They have some amusing songs... Nothing that will really last, but its fun to listen to.

I really wanted to see them in toledo with Stylex but i didnt have a chance to go. I really like the album and is worth it if you want something a little off pace and fun.

I saw the Danger! High Voltage video on Much Music USA several months ago. The video was really good, so I downloaded their album, and it was the only song that I really liked.

I'm bumping this thread to let people know that they can download a new free song from their website, taken from an album to be released early 2005. Its a pretty catchy tune... it was in my head for quite a while after hearing it.
