A Crow Left of the Murder
 

So, Incubus' new album has been out since Tuesday, I just picked it up today, and I'm listening to it right now. I'm a big Incubus fan, even though I've been told I'm not a true fan for some reason just because I liked Morning View, but godammit it was a good cd. I also like the old stuff from S.C.I.E.N.C.E. and Fungus Amongus, and probably my favorite, Make Yourself. So I consider myself well-rounded.
Anyway, the new cd. At first I have to admit I didn't really like "Megalomaniac," but now I'm a big fan after hearing it a couple times. The video's a little weird, but it grows on you. But that's inconsequential to the music. I really like the sound of this album, but I have a question for all you Incubus fans who have heard it: Do you consider this cd a new sound for Incubus or do you think they're returning to Fungus Amongus/S.C.I.E.N.C.E.-type stuff? Obviously it wouldn't be exactly the same, but it sounds more raw like the old stuff, more so than Morning View.
IMHO it's a new sound, and I like it.

actually i like megalomaniac on the radio or on tv..but on the cd the 15 second intro that sounds like a dial up modem makes me want to break someones face.

but overall this cd takes the incubus fans back to their earlier more rock cds like fungus and science. make yourself and morning view were more laid back and mellow in my opinion.

I place this cd in between Make Yourself and Morning View in terms of awesomeness.

Make Yourself was miles better than Morning View. Don't really know that much about the new stuff... When they left the funk behind I lost interest.

Curious... How come noone mentions Enjoy Incubus?

Wasnt Fungus pretty much made up of those songs? That would be my guess why its not on any favorites list. Im not that impressed with the new album, S.C.I.E.N.C.E will be hard to beat in my opinion.

I got into Incubus with the Morning View CD, so thats pretty much all I know. I'll have to check out their earlier stuff...

Couldn't find anything off the new album... yet.

i have yet to find any of their music i dont like! i dont know if its the voice but the fact they are willing to try new sounds is a nice change becuase following your roots is great but you have to branch out to grow.

i need to get that CD still, im looking forward to it!

As for myself, i've only heard Megalomaniac which is pretty cool, although i am not a big fan at all. I only really know Morning View and Science myself :eek:

I've been a fan of them since Morning View came out, then I went backwards and found I REALLY liked SCIENCE. With that said, I really don't like the new album... something about it just doesn't do anything for me. With that said, I like the first 6 songs, then I shut it off.
