Music for Theme CDs

Funds are limited this year, so some of my lesser friends and people who have already said they were going to give me a gift, are going to get a Mix Cd this year. I don't plan on just throwing some random songs on a CD though. I used to love making Mix Tapes and would spend hours, finding the right songs, drawing cover art, making tiny little booklets.. and I put the same time into making a CD. The Mix Cds I'm making for these people are going to have a certain theme that relates the CD to the person.

I've got most of the songs down pat, but a couple I'm having a shortage of songs for, and I come to present them to you in hopes that you will offer some suggestions in the Categories.

First CD: "The Rise and Fall of Nintendo"
This is the Mix I'm having the most trouble with. I'm trying to find some music that... is a music/video game hybrid. That mixes Guitar or Vocals with Old School Nintendo Synthesizer sounds or Music. Hard to fine stuff, for sure. Some Examples in this field are "Mario Twins" by Group X or "Bobby's Song" by Swimming is Floating

Second CD: "Spinning Psychology"
Music that makes references to the Mind. I've got a fair share of Pink Floyd songs. Just.. kind of "Mind Fuck" music that makes references to the decay or birth of the mind. "Where is my Mind" by the Pixies is an obvious one for this category.

Third CD: "Playground Crush'
In this one, I'm putting in songs that are kind of.. lighthearted and childish. Stuff that makes you reminisce back to the days of Grade School. The Moldy Peaches are good for this, but the girl I'm making it for is already a huge MP fan, so I'm not including any. An example would be "I can tell that we are going to be friends" by The White Stripes.

As always, thanks for any help you could throw my way.

Not sure if these will be your cup of tea but:

1st cd:

Five Iron frenzy- Nintendo (however, lyrics are hard to understand)
2nd cd:
I'm sure some Tool song fits this bill, but im having a brain fart..

3rd cd:
Greenday- Time of your life(good riddance)

by the way, cool idea for a gift :)

3rd cd: Immediately I thought of the song "Playground Love" by Air.

"I'm a high school lover, and you're my favorite flavor
Love is all, all my soul
You're my Playground Love

Yet my hands are shaking
I feel my body remains, themes no matter, I'm on fire
On the playground, love.

You're the piece of gold that flushes all my soul.
Extra time on the ground.
You're my Playground Love.

Anytime, anyway,
You're my Playground Love."

Yea, That's the title track, actually. I love that song so much. It is like a Melancholy slushie of nostalgia

Thanks for the suggestions, both of ya. ^_^

For the 3rd CD, how about Another Bad Creation - Playground?

And for CD 2 maybe Basement Jaxx - Where's Your Head At?

That's all I can think of now, but I'll be back if I think of any more.

cd 2 - Radiohead - Paranoid Android, Like Spinning Plates

Try Benefit - Warp to World 69. It's a rap about how Super Mario is saving the Princess for sex. The beat is taken from the Super Mario, obviously.

Maybe this song from the Reservoir Dogs soundtrack would be good for your third CD. Some kiddie kinda love in it

Sandy Rogers
Fool for Love

"He was born a fool for love
What he wouldn't do for love
He's a fool, a fool for love

She was six and he was seven
Used to send him off to heaven
When she said, you are my sunshine
The part he always liked the best
When she teased him with a kiss
And she said you make me happy

He grew up he didn't get much better
Tattooed underneath his sweater
L.o.v.e in blue
Seems he was never satisfied
Chasing girls like butterflies
Believin' every word they said was true

Last time I saw him alive
He was standin' up on the bride's side
Yelling his objections at the groom
The blushing bride was my bestfriend
She turned around and to him said
Yes you were my only sunshine then

You're a fool for love
What he wouldn't do for love
He's a fool, a fool for love
Born a fool, you got to
Follow the rule, always a fool
A fool for love"
