Soothing music?
You know when you have those times where you're uptight or you have a headache and you need to calm down and relax?
Well I'm looking for some suggestions for a good cd or some songs to listen to on such an occasion... Anything that you find soothing. Thanks :) |
Sigur Ros
Check out "The Nothing Song" and "Svefn-G-Englar" |
when i'm in one of those moods i usually put in some dashboard confessional or coldplay..
then there's the odd song that helps.. 'heaven' by moonpools and caterpillars gets me in a pretty good mood, but it's one of those 'no way im putting it on a cd in case someone hears me playing it' songs, heh... and, if you're into strange types of music... nightwish relaxes me, the lead singer has a great voice, but it's kind of heavy music... i love it though |
Sigur Ros is where its at. Also try some
Electric Light Orchestra - One Summer Dream, Waterfall, Fire On High (Face The Music) Bread - Aubrey (Bread Anthology) Don Mclean - And I love you so/Vincent (American Pie & Other hits) Bob Scaggs - We're All Alone (Silk Degrees) Buffalo Springfield - Expecting To Fly Jim Croche has a lot of great soft songs. The Moody Blues are full of good stuff Queen - Who Wants To Live Forever? (1 of many songs by them) And if you ain't into the older stuff try Damien Rice - Volcano(O) Silverchair - My Favourite Thing (Diorama) Counting Crows - Around Here, Anna Begins, Raining In Baltimore (August and Everything After) basically that whole album is good. Also check out Millers Angels on Recovering The Satellites. Travis - Luv (The Man Who) really beautiful song right there. The Verve Pipe - She Has Faces (The Verve Pipe) Live - Overcome I'll come back with some more. I like to sleep to music so I know a lot a softer shit. Asta!! |

James Taylor is very relaxing
|
when I need something soothing, I generally listen to music without words. Words distract me from relaxing.
The only exceptions to this rule, currently, are Norah Jones (although I've kind of played out that CD) and either Brushfire Fairytales or On And On by Jack Johnson. Both CDs are extremely relaxing. As for instrumental discs, I listen to the following (all which can be found at Amazon) Bach At Bedtime Mozart At Midnight Hilary Stagg: Dream Spiral (a little cheesy but if you like the harp, it's beautiful) anything by George Winston The Essence of Pachelbel by Michael Maxwell - this is variations on Pachelbel's famous "Canon in D." Extremely relaxing! Silent Pool by Marian McPartland |
Wow thanks for all the responses everyone!! This is great!! I can't wait to try out all these songs.... Thanks a lot!! =)
