Any list that has Primus on it isn't worth discussing in my opinion. They just made the list for magazine sales.

That list makes no sense at all. One of the most influential bands in the history of music comes in at 37? Creed should have been rated much higher, like 2-3. Paul Oakenfold, Malmsteen, and Primus don't belong on that list either.

i agree that ICP does suck... horribly in fact...

but there a couple bands on that list that i don't believe do... the doors... the goo goo dolls... primus... just to name a few...

Insane Clown Posse Named Worst Rock Band

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Insane Clown Posse, the Detroit rap duo beloved by teenage boys for their creepy face make-up and X-rated lyrics, have been named the worst band ever by Blender magazine.

The music publication's September issue said Insane Clown Posse "sound even stupider than they look," and derided them for rapping about "40-ouncers and venereal disease."

Officials at the band's Psychopathic Records label were less than enthusiastic about the rating.

"They've brought themselves up from nothing to become an international musical phenomena (sic), and yet, somehow, they still get no respect from fine mainstream publications such as Blender Magazine," they said in a Web posting (http://www.insaneclownposse.com).

They noted that the Insane Clown Posse album dubbed the worst by Blender, "The Wraith: Shangri-La," actually received a three-star review (i.e. very good in its genre) in the publication's January/February issue.

No. 2 on the list was 1970s supergroup Emerson, Lake & Palmer, followed by once-hirsute balladeer Michael Bolton (news), mellow jazz saxophonist Kenny G. and the Jefferson Airplane pop spinoff Starship.

Agreed. The list is bullshit in my opinion. There are a couple of good bands on there (including Primus). I hate lists like this because they always end up lumping in good bands with the shitty ones. I also noticed that they didn't have a lot of bands that I consider to be really awful (although I do agree with a few of the "worst band" selections).

Blender... there's a reputable magazine.
Then again, Rolling Stone's taken quite a turn as well.
Funny how there's no Cra...err Pop music from the past few years on that list, let alone any Rap. Now I'm biased against it being a rock/blues/jazz guitar player (but I do know its not all bad), however Blender has always been Rap/Hip-hop/Pop oriented mainly. I'd like to see Spin's 50 worst.

FUCK THIS LIST... primus i love them primus is a great band who you cant really classify with anyone else... paul oakenfold is one of the most influential ppl innt he history of electronic music... But THE FUCKING DOORS the doors are one of the best bands ever... i take this as a personal slap in the face.... as a musician and a writer... jim morrison is the reason i started writing... im extremely mad that the doors and worst are used even in the same conversation let alone putting them on a worst list... fuck that list... fuck it in its stupid ass

That list is total bullshit, minus the ICP stuff, and the Creed and Goo Goo Dolls stuff (even though both of those bands should have been moved way way way up closer to number 1).

How can they even say that The Doors, Primus, or the Gypsie Kings are among the worst bands? Thats just horseshit.

My respect for Blender is on a Roller Coaster right now! :D putting The Doors on that list immidiately opened them up for ridicule and why isn't Creed 2 or 3? At least Bolton had Faith hehe

edit: arrested development is also hip hop, and i don't know what the hell they're doing on this list (they're responsible for the songs "tennessee," "mr. wendel," and "everyday people." their presence is confusing.)

Manowar has to be heard to be believed. Tremendous. Epic strides in hair metal untouched by anyone else. "Metal Warriors" is my favorite.

And despite what it is trendy to say on TFP (and FARK), Creed isn't THAT bad. I wouldn't buy their album, I agree they are overplayed, but it's not like they are completely incompetent. A few of their early songs are actually on my mp3 playlist.

Creed is much more than bad, they are despicably horrible.

This whole list is stupid...Music is far too subjective to rate any band the worst ever. If they make more than one album someone bought the first one and some liked it. ICP suck now but if you don't take their previous music seriously (anything before BizaarBizzar) and just have fun with it then it's enjoyable. Ppl take music too damn seriously.

Live is an amazing band. these listmakers should die a fiery death.

The Doors... enough has been said about this already. They should NOT be anywhere near a worst list.

Whether you like the Doors or not (I Love The Doors!), they are one of the most important bands in music, and although I'm not a huge Primus fan, they don't deserve to be there either. And Mick Jagger? I mean, I know his solo stuff isn't great, but he's not one of the worst ever.

Malmsteen, Starship, Jamiroquai, I mean I don't like 'em, but they're not that bad.

And yeah, Master P sucks, but what makes him so much worst than most other rappers?

Maxims cool, but man, Blender sucks. I'd say your best bet with music mags (which isn't saying much) would be Spin, Q, and Chart.

well i'm sorry to be completely opposite to everyone else... (except cockmonger) but i really don't rate ICP as a bad band at all. i really like ICP... they're my favorite band atm. i'm not a gothic, i don't dress like them and all that like some people do. but i think there lyrics are some of the funniest stuff out there. have any of you actually listened to the lyrics? or are you's just being sheep?

their cover of "let's go all the way" was pretty good. they aren't revolutionary by any means, but who cares. you don't have to change music in order to have an impact. btw, this is the one song of theirs that i have heard of. i'm certainly not a fan.

With so many horrible bands, how can you make a list of just 50? But that's just me being cynical. I definately agree that ICP should be near the top of that list though.

Not only were the Doors on (and I don't like rock, but I recognise their musical ability and influence) but there was a total lack of any of the boy bands of the mid-late 90's. And that was some of the most artistically bankrupt music ever made, many of the band menbers won't even acknowledge it now. I think what they did was try to get "safe" (i.e. not currently chart-topping) choices. I don't think it would be easy to do such a list, but I think it could be done much better. When some of your choices could logically be considered some of the BEST of their respective genres, it's hard to have any credibility.

Uh oh, looks like the "juggalos" are gonna be mad. The list does seem kinda wierd to me, but hey, i agree on the ICP thing.

Several bands and artists did not deserve to be on that list. Unfortunately, someone got paid to come up with it.

And, damnit, I really wish people listen to music before you deride it because everyone else does or because you've heard that they do this or seen them on TV. I thought ICP would suck ass, until I listened to the lyrics and what they were trying to say. I've actually got some respect for them, because they talk about just as much important shit as anyone else out there, if not more. And some of it is just downright funny shit.

Those bands/groups should not be on this list where they are, if at all. I disagree with the list in general, but IMO the bands above stand out as ones I would not put on it.

Music is such an individual preference, that these lists almost always are a joke unless they are based on data, like sales, etc.

Mike & the Mechanics - Not my cup of tea but a respectable number of hits none the less.

Live - new stuff is crap but throwing copper is one of my all time favourites
Arrested Development - one of THE seminal albums of the nineties
Crash Test Dummies - not great but not the worst
Jamiroquai - Do they even know who he is, no way he'd be here if they did 5 albums + a heap of hits and awards inc. MTV video award
Yngwie Malmsteen - is one of the most talented guitarists of this generation
Mick Jagger - why has he been singled out, do they mean the stones were a bad band or what?

Insane Clown Posse - I have listened to and enjoyed their stuff, it's not serious I admit but then neither is Eminems stuff and I don't see him here

This is only one jack-ass' opinion and just because it was published doesn't give it any real creadence. I am sure we could all make our own lists and none of them would be the same. As for ICP, while I wouldn't buy their albums, I do find them fun to listen too. Certainly they are a joke, but they know they are, thats the idea. To say that they are the worst band in the world is not giving a lot of really terrible bands the credit they deserve.

i agree that ICP sucks. But i have really liked some of the other bands on that list. Especially Primus they have some of the best riffs ever... well in my opinion. they were weird but very talented.

Put it this way, there are now a whole bunch of people talking about Blender magazine. Taking the randomness of the list, I'd say that there is a decent chance that they knew full well how wrong some of the entries were, but were banking on the "no such thing as bad publicity" angle.
