The Top 50 Artists of 2009 [Illustrated] || via TheHypeMachine
All through this week, The Hype Machine will be featuring the top music artists from 2009 (as well as the top music albums and songs, according their site algorithm or something), and they will be doing so with help from their commissioned illustrators. Enjoy.

Most of those are indie bands with small fanbases consisting of hipsters, right? I recognize 13 of the names, and 3 or 4 I only recognize by the name and have never heard their music. In any case, that Kanye illustration is awesome.

Perhaps. I've "heard of" a fair share of these artists, but actually llistening to them all? No chance. The listing is gathered and calculated by what artists are "hot", I'd venture, and receive the most replay within whatever feature The Hype Machine allows for registered users to listen freely, and therefore, submit user data based on what they like lsitening to.
