Hooooooly shit. Said 'oh fuck' more than once watching it. Wow.

Charlatan 09-21-2005 11:30 AM

How anyone could advocate against helmets after seeing that, is beyond me.

Destrox 09-21-2005 11:38 AM

Wow, just wow. Some of those people are lucky to be alive (if they are that is)

Scorps 09-21-2005 02:33 PM

OMG, OMG, OMG is all I got to say:eek:

roadkill 09-21-2005 04:15 PM

And that's why the bike is not to be used in this way. Other ways fine but this way damn. I hope all those people lived, probably not all of them did, but at least most I hope.

powerclown 09-21-2005 05:00 PM

Hehe, pure carnage. Love it.
I can watch dragsters blowing up all day.

Thanks

That one guy was so lucky... falls off of his bike and hits the padded wall... only to have another guys bike smash into the wall RIGHT above him. On second glance, looks like he got a bit of tire from that. Hope he's okay... he'd have one hell of a story to tell the grandkids.

by that logic then seeing that 100+m slide is a reason for all riders to wear full leather armor... there's always higher safety standards for competitive racing vs. street racing. In fact I'd say it's better stated for reasons for people to not street race.

but all in all... very exciting to watch since that's why i'm wathing the race anyways.. the spectacular crashes.

Charlatan 09-22-2005 05:46 AM

People riding crotch rockets *should* seriously consider wearing leathers or other types of protective clothing.

RaDiAn 09-22-2005 08:45 AM

I felt every one....saftey gear is a big +.......

Ya I just shake my head everytime I see a guy in town waering shorts and a T-shirt, if I had a bike it wouldn't matter if it was 100 degrees out side I would still wear blue jeans and a leather jacket!

Ambition 10-02-2005 12:06 PM

After seeing things like that you'd wonder why you'd want to get back on...

Hell, when I was on my cruiser I always wore a leather jacket with an action back and padded elbows. And a helmet. Crotch rockets, you need the full setup.

I just shake my head at guys who ride in shorts and t-shirts.

Agreed that wearing leathers while enjoying your motorcycle is a must.

Since we are on the subject, I saw a few motocross shots in there and it brought a story to mind... A good friend of mine from college used to ride motocross. In conversation one day, I asked him why he ever quit... He said that he'd had an arguement about qualifying times before a race with a fellow competitor. The opposing party obviously was still upset about it, and halfway through the race he kicked my friend's motorbike out from under him in mid-air during a big jump. The bike consequently bounced off the ground, on top of my friend and the footpeg punctured his back and ruptured something (can't recall what). He showed me the scar, it's quite impressive. After that, he never entered another competition and sold all of his motorcycles. Only recently, approximately 7 or 8 years later, has he purchased another (small) dirtbike and began tooling around in his backyard with it.

Well when its a hot summer day wearing leather pants is a bad idea :hmm:

yeah...

my cousin thought the same thing too until he slid a hundred or so yards which left him bareassed and road rashed.... he couldn't sit for a few months without a little donut.

theguyondacouch 10-05-2005 04:11 PM

And you get to say "hold on guys, I've just got to slide into my leather pants" wothout looking gay. What?

I saw that too. Definitly gets the lucky-dog award for that set of clips.

I like watching rally car crashes the most. They are always high speed and usually have the most interesting of circumstances as far as what caused the accident and the resulting flips/twirls/bangs/carnage. Also the drivers rarely get hurt too bad because of the safety of the cars, so you don't cringe for them as much.
