If your doing it for show go for it if your doing just to get your car low go with air-ride much easier and smoother ride! |
If you do want to use hydros, you need to re-enforce the frame and key parts of the suspension. Leave hydros the the cars in music videos. Air ride is the best. With a really good air system u can hop the car if u want, but for as little as like 800$ (us) u can get most vehicles riding on air

I never really thought of hydraulics destroying the car but logically it makes sense. Maybe I've been watching too many videos.
|
It also takes a crap load of battery power to get those things hopping around.

okay thx for the info but hey what is air system...
Is it where you can adjust the suspension from the cabin of the car |

true, air-bags are smoother and might be a tad less stressful on the car, but the fact remains: its illegal
here in california, you can't get away with any suspension modification that is even slightly insane. nonetheless, its a pretty sweet effect. it might be "played out" around my area [socal] but everytime i see it, i still think i'd want to drive one of those for a night |

Oh and in Cali air supsension ARE legal as long as like any other lowered car they are not operated on public streets at an illegal height(aka slammed to hell) http://www.chp.ca.gov/html/streetlegal.html Thank the Lord I live in a state that as long as you aren't making an ass of yourself the cops will leave you alone with your mods. |
in one sense, hydraulics and air bags/air ride do the same thing... allow you to lower and raise your car as you please. but the technology is different:
hydraulics push fluid air bags/air ride push air both have their pros and cons, though most people today would say that air is the way to go (cheaper, don't have all the weight of all the batteries, and no risk of spilling fluid everywhere). depending on the car, and presumed use of system, both hydraulic systems and air ride may need to have the chassis reinforced. many suv's nowadays come with an air ride system (range rover, lexus gx, and lincoln navigator to name a few)... though it just changes the ridge height slightly. *enter pic of impala on hydraulics* http://www.superhonda.com/photopost/...itches-med.jpg http://www.superhonda.com/photopost/...onlean-med.jpg *enter cars on air ride* http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...1/f91882de.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...9/f9188386.jpg http://www.vipstylecars.com/images/LSvegas.jpg in short, if you want to get as low as possible, and raise it up when you want to, air ride or hydraulics are the way to go. |
I know Hydrolics give you that crazy high or low stance but I like slamming car/trucks/or SUV's so I would go with Air bags, and your also right, get a leak your fucked a little.

The only thing we havent mentioned is just a static drop. Not versatile, cant do any cool tricks, but costs alot less....althought ull eat thru suspension parts after a lil while.
