I really love the production car, but the front of the C6-R is ten ways of screwed up with those headlights.
|
My new favorite Vette.
What a beautiful car; awesome lines and curves. Great interior. Makes the Viper look like a toy. What a beast...Well Done, Chevy!!! (What series does the CR-6 race in?) |
I am a huge Corvette nut. As such, I obviously love this car.
One thing I notice is that the Z06 looks very European. What I mean is the hood scoop, side scoops and grille additions look almost like a Ferrari. I honestly think the C5 was a world class car, especially compared to the C4, but this thing (which I haven't driven yet) looks like it is that much better. Man, I can't wait. |
I need to change myself.

Correct me if I am wrong, the chevy cars are the ones that all use the same mounts and what not, so you can literally swap out engines with any of them, if they fit the small block/large block profile.
LS7 engine The all-new LS7 of the '06 Z06 reintroduces the 427-cubic-inch engine to the Corvette lineup. Unlike the previous 427 engine, which was a big-block design, the new 7.0-liter LS7 is a small-block V-8 - the largest-displacement small-block ever produced by GM and a tribute to its 50 years as a performance icon. With 500 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque, it also is the most powerful passenger car engine ever produced by Chevrolet and GM. The LS7 is easily identified under the hood by red engine covers with black lettering. The LS7 shares the same basic Gen IV V-8 architecture as the Corvette's 6.0-liter LS2, but the LS7 uses a different cylinder block casting with pressed-in steel cylinder liners to accommodate the engine's wide, 104.8-mm-wide cylinder bores; the LS2 has 101.6-mm bores. And when compared to the LS2, the LS7 also has a different front cover, oil pan, exhaust manifolds and cylinder heads. Internally, the LS7's reciprocating components make use of racing-derived lightweight technology, including titanium connecting rods and intake valves, to help boost horsepower and rpm capability. The rpm fuel shut-off limit is 7000 rpm. drop that into chevy's smallest/lightest car :D |

yeah, except that i don't want that engine in a FWD POS Aveo *puke*. i'll leave it in the sexy vette ;) |
I'm not a big vette fan, but I like it. i really like the headlights.
|
those headlights look very similar to that of a modena or spyder. nice car looking car. i like the heads up display.
|
You can't really swap engines with the Z06 due to the dry sump oiling.
|
Those headlights still will take some getting used to... That doesn't mean it's not sexy though!

At which point we point and laugh, then remind them that they still have an Aveo. :D |
Extremely intense car, I love it! Just a little out of my budget at the moment.....
|
omg omg omg omg omg omg..... i want that C6-R so bad. :-O *drools*
|
If you ask me it looks like GM's version of a couple of Ferrari's.
Ferrari > GM |
I'm underwhelmed. I don't think there is ever going to be another truly sexy Corvette.

Awesome. Proof of what talented engineers can do with American muscle.
|
I really don't like the headlights or front end. It looks like it's already been riced out.
|
LOL in that first C6-R pic, are they driving that thing on the street?

Damn, I love it, American power at its finest, I guess the engine in it is pretty much a detuned trans am spec engine that is built to the hills.

I believe the C5R engine WAS streetable, just not street legal. Plus general durability, emissions, and fuel mileage is better with these street going versions, I'm sure.
|
how much would this cost?
|
Rumors are all over the map. Anywhere from 60-80k.
|
What I get on price from my friend, is that its looking at no more then 75k for a tricked out Z06.
|
Wow, and I thought I liked the new vette alot... that thing is freaking awesome!

And yea, nice car |
How many road courses still have double yellow lines down the middle? I wonder if chevy did this during a scheduled ad campaign shoot in some out of the way area where the local population was okay with them shutting down some roads for a day or two.
"Hey, bob, we're going to close down some roads in backwater Michigan to shoot the new ads for the Trailblazer. Why don't we take a C6R out for a spin between takes?" "Gee, steve, that's a swell idea! I'll call bill and we can even take a few shots for our other promo campaign for the c6 z06." |

I made a mistake I read up on the street version engine and this thing is going to have a 7.0L 427 most likly going to be called the LS7 :D |
