Need suggestions for impending car purchase please

Ok, I've had my '91 Tracker for about six years now and while the engine is still very strong the body, brakes, shocks, interior, and clutch are all on the verge of wearing out. Hence, I'm looking for new wheels.

I'll just go ahead and list what I'm looking for and if you guys could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

-1999 or newer please. Not looking for another project.
-Foreign or domestic, I'm open to suggestions.
-$10000 price cap. This is pretty much non-negotiable.
-I really prefer RWD since that's what I've been driving, well, since I started driving. But I understand in my budget RWD is probably unrealistic. FWD is ok.
-Manual.
-I'd like a coupe/2-door. No trucks though.

That's about it. 4-bangers are ok, I like decent fuel economy. I have been looking pretty hard at Ford Focus ZX3's but I'll be damned if I can find one in my area (Dayton, OH).

Thanks in advance!

Hmmm are you looking for something with a bit of performance or just something to get around in with a touch of style?

If you are looking for RWD coupe and under 10k your only real options are a used V6 Mustang or used V6 Camaro. The used Mustangs you can find them at around 8-9k for the 00-01 version pretty easily. It fits all the above criteria but it's slow as crap. I mean it should be a touch faster than the other little FWD four bangers on the market for the price tag but it won't be a speed demon in the least.

FWD and two door for under 10k...
you can probably find a Toyota Celica,Mitsubishi Eclipse, or even a Hyundai Tiburon for around that much. The occasional Mercury Cougar as well could be found I suppose.

Yeah, forgot to mention some of this.

I'm looking to get around with some pep, style or looks or whatever isn't that important. I know I'm not going to turn heads with a $10k car. Heck, I was blown away by how much faster a Focus was over my Tracker. Anything is going to be fast to me after driving that thing for so long.

I loooooove American muscle so to me a V6 Mustang is kinda like a bastard red-headed stepchild. I know a V6 is a huge improvement over a Tracker, but if I'm spending on a Mustang, I want to do it right

I appreciate the advice, keep it coming please!

you *MIGHT* be able to step into a 99 Z28 or Mustang GT for under $10k if it's stripped down enough and the milage is a little high

i personally would look at a 99 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS, you should be able to find one for just under $10k. if you don't know, it's the predicessor to the WRX... still pretty peppy and a good all around car.

if you're willing to go a little older, check out a Nissan 300ZX or Mitsubishi 3000GT

you're going to hate me, but hyundai elantras arent too terrible if you want something cheap and fairly reliable. the car runs about a 16.5 in the 1/4 mile stock, and you can cut a second off of that with cheap bolt ons. (I have one myself).

looked into a honda prelude?
accord coupe?
focus isnt a bad choice.

im out of good ideas. I'd reccomend against a real sports car at that budget, because I have a feeling that there will be more problems with it than you expect.

2000 Celica GT

140 Horsepower, Great interior, great looks, and toyota makes a good quality product. Can be easily had for 10k.

I plan on getting on in the spring.
